Stopped in for a Sunday roast with my girlfriend and our son after meeting Luke & Lucy (the owners) and their son on a family day trip. Luke invited us to his restaurant to try out the food and we wasn’t disappointed. The chicken supreme roast was one of the best I’ve ever had. It was accompanied with a double spiced rum and coke which went down really well and I was later told it was a local Kent based dark spiced rum. Very impressed. Hannah was also raving about her sirloin beef roast and as her dad is a butcher I would say that’s a pretty big compliment. But by far the biggest compliment I could pay is that our son who is one of the most fussiest of eaters, absolutely loved the sausages. I managed to nick a bite myself and I have to agree with his judgement. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Love the decor by the way Luke 😉 We’ll definitely pay another visit next time we’re in Folkestone. We have to come back and try the burgers, (I was torn between that and the roast).
Was lovely to meet you and your family.

Read moreVery slow food service and tasted horrible. Meat extremely overcooked.
Edited to add details: We visited on 24 February and ordered a burger (which was overcooked, and didn't come with rocket/tomato/salad as advertised), a pie (which my husband said was also extremely overcooked), and mac and cheese for our daughter (which was just an obscene amount of cheese and our daughter refused to eat a bite). Drinks were pretty good. Vibe was very local and cozy.
We did chase on how slow the food was, and was told the kitchen still had several meals to do, with a bit of an annoyed response, so we did bring that to attention. After we did get our food, nobody at any point came and asked us how the food was or how everything was when we were leaving, and it seemed like there was a lot of locals enjoying their drinks in the small cozy pub so we weren't going to give unsolicited bad feedback.
We did read all the amazing reviews but really didn't enjoy our experience - so wanted to perhaps bring a balanced view to manage future visitor's...
Read moreA lovely bank holiday Monday drink. The pub has many vintage war signs and lots of places to sit, within the pub there are two different spaces. A smaller one with the bar and a large space which accommodates large and small tables. There is also a couple of good tables to watch the world go by. One particular barmaid was super friendly, ive forgotten her name?! She made us feel very welcome! She talked me through the different types of gins of which they have many! I settled on a new one to the pub called Hastings raspberry, yummy! My freind had a Savingon and she was really happy with it. They have lots of differeht choices including an abundance of on tap ales. We are both really hard to please, but were very happy with our drinks and the happy bar maid, really made ut a great place to go! You could pop in either with freinds of...
