We went here with friends as they live here in Sandgate. Lovely little pub setting greeted by the owner and staff and they made you feel so welcome. Lovely log fire which was greatly appreciated as it was cold today. There were 6 of us and we had a variety of starters. The whitebait was the best I have ever tasted. The scotch and haggis egg was excellent. I had the pulled pork bon bons with stilton cheese crumbled over them and a sauce to die for. My wife then had bangers and mash and she loved it. The rest of us had the roast and hand on heart was the best I have had to date. The deserts were perfection rhubarb crumble, lemon posset, sticking toffee pudding and chocolate brownie. The food was next level, beautifully presented and absolutely faultless. The owner and the staff made the experience and can't thank them enough. This is truly a hidden gem and you won't be disappointed, this is an absolute must. 11/02/2024 went here again with more friends and wow. Amazing staff and service and the food was absolutely incredible. I love this place and can't wait to return.

Traditional village pub by the sea. Everybody recieves a warm family welcome into their locals pub, who enjoy interacting with tourists. Dog and child friendly. Seafood is sold Thursday to Monday, eat in or takeaway. There is a good selection including; jellied eals, whelks, dressed crab, cockles, prawns, roll mops, and crab sticks. Supplief by local Boathouse Fisheries. No other food is served so ignore old food pictures or reviews. Weekly live music events create a good vibe. Sky and TNT Sports for major events and only in one room separate from the 2 bar rooms. Real ale is drawn direct from the cask in the cool room ensuring freshness. One ale available typically from local Hopfuzz Brewery. The inviting exterior is complimented with a cosy, comfortable and cared for interior spread over 3 rooms. A real fire warms in winter. Wheelchair access is limited to small chairs, and the toilets are not accessable.

Lovely little place, limited out door seating, but on a hot day was lovely and cool to sit in side for a drink and lunch after walking along the beach. Food was fantastic the best burger I've had in a restaurant, and the chunky double fried chip were delicious. The photo of the burger doesn't do it justice I'd unfortunately not waited to take the picture before a bite. The hot dog was also really good. Yummy properly home cooked food, without a long wait. Guy on the bar was friendly, polite and really welcoming. Felt safe and followed covid guildlines without it effecting the atmosphere.

My in-laws celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary at The Providence Inn tonight with myself and my wife. The pub/restaurant had bags of character with comfortable chairs and large tables. There was a varied menu with a specials board and the food was first class, partulicularly the mussels in the seafood linguini. The service was friendly and professional and I will be returning soon ..... I just wish I lived more locally. I should also say that two glasses of champagne were presented to mum and dad in celebration of their anniversary from the owners .... a really nice touch which was totally unexpected but says so...
