Burger King — Restaurant in Gateshead

I've had food from other service station Burger Kings, and they have been consistently grim, and really quite unpleasant, we only tried this one out of desperation, we were both starving, and this was the only opportunity we were going to have to eat for another 7 hours, but my god! We were very VERY pleasantly surprised! Staff- brilliant, friendly,efficient and helpful, happy to take the time to go through what was in things on the menu ( as well as everything that was " off menu") the food arrived piping hot,and you could just tell it was freshly cooked. We've always gone to McDonalds previously, but everything we got from Burger King,knocked spots of the stuff from maccy d's, the fries were hot and crisp, not over salted and had a really good fries flavour! Everything about the double whopper we got, was just so much better than a big mac! for a start, it was hot! bigger,as in bigger circumferance, better bun,that didnt just collapse, and didnt have that weird sweet taste maccy d's buns have, the burgers were bigger,thicker and juicier, and much much better flavour, the salad on it was fresh and crisp,and the lettuce doesnt just fall out, because it isnt shredded, we also got the chilli cheese bites, and these were LUSH! All of the cheese dipper things maccy d's do, are like rubber, really Bland and chewy, but not these ones, they were freshly cooked, piping hot! And when we bit into one, we got lovely molten cheese that tasted of cheese! With little pieces of green chilli, absolutely lush! Totally enjoyed every bite of everything we bought, even the pop tasted better than McDonalds! it was so nice, we both really fancied it again today, but to be honest,we were kind of sceptical it would be so good today, but it was just as good!!! And the manager took extra time to talk to me when I asked if I could order things that had changes to the standard, we drove from Newcastle to this services today,just to get some good food, and we will be doing it whenever we fancy a Burger from now on! Stopped to treat myself as I very rarely get the opportunity to visit Burger King, was offered ketchup to go with my meal but I asked for some mayonnaise instead to which I was informed that they DO NOT supply this basic condiment but instead could supply me with some spicy mayonnaise for an additional fee which I declined & asked to talk to the manager who obviously did not take my complaint seriously as he stood smirking from the other side of the counter. I left to go to my vehicle and noticed that there was no fries in my meal when I got there, upon returning to the establishment I requested my missing food and told the staff members my food was now practically stone cold, I was told that another burger would be prepared which it most definitely WAS NOT as I was the only customer at the time & watched them take the burger & onion rings (of which there were only eight instead of the quoted nine), they just slid the items under the hot lamps & rebagged the food which was now very cold. Went in quite late for an eat in meal. Had the bacon double combo for 2 with coffee and a mixed box for £15, which was quite good value for the quantity of food.

However, due to the number of delivery orders coming in the crew were finding it difficult to cope. That meant the burgers came only just warm and we left the coffee.

I've been here several times while traveling and the food quality has been much better. As I've commented in other fast food reviews since traditional eat in or take out restaurants have embraced pre-order and home deliver food quality and service has nosed dive.
