Stopping over for the night at Premier Inn just across the way from this establishment and pleasantly surprised when I walked in and noticed how quite big this place is, more than 30 screens available for all sports and a food menu that's really impressive with a varied choice that should appeal to most. I ordered the Garlic Mushroom Chicken dish served with the most delightful chunky chips, salad and coleslaw. When I say it is the best pub grub I've ever had I'm not exaggerating and I've frequented a lot of pubs over the years and working away from home quite often I tend to look for a Spoons but they've gone way down in my estimation regarding food and service but Champs is an absolute blessing because there is nothing worse than wasting your hard earned money on overpriced rubbish, but here you can forget the Spoons, Hungry Horse, Brewers Fayre and the likes. I really hope they can expand further afield and leave those other crap food establishment behind because with Champs you really do get what you pay for and leave feeling more than satisfied. The beer selection ain't too bad either... Hope to return again if I'm working/stopping over this way again.. Absolutely spot on. Just to add, Dog Friendly!

Busy pub even on a Monday night but still managed to get a seat, seems to play sports matches and is frequented by the locals. Noted drinkers, eaters and family parties alike, lighting was a little dull, maybe to allow folk to watch the TV. Services was functional and friendly, order at the bar. Diverse menu. Food was great wholesome food. I went for the salt and chili chicken ciabatta, was flavourful, tasty nice chunky slaw, big dunking bowl of Chinese curry sauce. Huge portion of chips too, great for polishing off the sauce. Side of of onion rings seem fresh made, big hoops too nice tempura batter, not like the frozen ones although they were a little under seasoned. Would recommend for some scran if passing by.

Perhaps you need to be a local to fully appreciate this place. Since it was my first visit I wasn't aware it's not like almost every other restaurant. There is no service at the tables. After waiting a while I walked up to the bar and asked how to order as I didn't know I couldn't order from the table. The QR code on the table doesn't work either. I ordered the meat pizza and potato skins. The potatoes were soft and greasy and the pizza would best be described as a reheated frozen box pizza. I'm guessing if you want anything else or another drink you need to walk to the bar again as nobody returned to the table.

I was very unsatisfied with the service we received today, Monday 6th May. We had friends staying for the weekend and decided to take them to Champs as we have loved it previously. We arrived at 1pm and ordered food at 1.32pm. Our friends ordered first then were ordered straight after. The lady serving us asked if it was the same table were confirmed it was. We were informed there was a half hour wait which we were fine with. And on time the food started coming out in half an hour. Well so we thought. Our friends were served then nothing. We waited 20 minutes still nothing. I asked at the bar after waiting at the till for almost 5 minutes. She went to the kitchen and informed they were doing the other 4 meals now. In the meantime there were tables being served who were in after us. She told me they were busy. I asked why we could not be served as a whole table. Again only told they were busy. Eventually the 4 further meals came out while our 2 friends had finished theirs. I ordered grilled salmon salad. Salmon was dry and crispy on the outside. It has been lovely in the past. My daughter ordered a dish and requested no jalapenos, it came with jalapenos. My husband's 1/2 rack was just warm. It seemed as though it had been kept on a warm plate or something in...

What a waste. Our first time visiting this restaurant. We walked in and asked do we sit anywhere, they said yes. We found a table and sat down down. On the table is the table number with a QR code to order, it doesn't work. We waited and waited and no one stopped at our table. By the bar, we saw a sign that said order here. We walked up and asked is this where we order our food if seated in the dining room, they said yes. We ordered the pizza special with potato skins and a soda. We received our food and it were disappointed. The Margherita pizza wasn't good at all. The cheese was chewy, the red sauce had no flavor and the crust wasn't cooked throughly. The soda was mostly carbonated water. Save yourself some aggravation and go to the carvery place across the street, better food at...
