Group of friends went for a post Graduation celebration. I'd never been before (I live 90 miles away)..
First impression as we pulled up was "It looks alright". Got inside and was greeted by Nathan who seemed very jolly and pleased to see everyone (some restaurant's, I believe see you as a formality these days). Quickly sorted us some drinks in the reception area, and kept us entertained until our table was ready.
The waiting staff were all delightful to be around again, seemed genuinely happy to see you. Orders taken and straight off to the kitchen. Restaurant was over half full, and I guess we all arrived at a similar time.. The chefs were running at full speed but made it look easy.. Yes, you can see into the kitchen if you wish.. Always a good sign.
Starters arrived and I was amazed at the portion sizes.. I like my food.. if you stuck a bowl of rice with mine it would have made a healthy main course for most :-) There were 9 of us all shapes sizes and ages telling each to try each others food as it was "Fantastic". Not a single complaint.
Lovely waiting staff came, cleared up asked if we wanted our mains now.. We all agreed, and promptly the next course came.. Again fantastic quality food. Also fortunately for me a few friends couldn't manage their share.. so me and a couple others dived in and cleared up.
The Graduates drank some crazy cocktails, the Moms drank bottles of wine, and the Dads had several pints.. A really good night had by all finished off by checking the bill. We'd all guessed it would be higher.. Confirmed by a laughing Nathan to be correct (guess no many ask if He's forgotten anything from the bill). We paid up, looked happy, and continued our night of...
Read moreThis was my first experience eating here, unfortunately it wasn’t a good one! My other half had informed me last time she attended, a waiter greeted her and whilst she was waiting for friends to arrive her asked if she would like a drink and to sit down anywhere of her choosing and he would bring it over until the other diners arrived. A couple of minutes later a waiter called Greg approached the waiter in-front of my other half and said “why is she sitting there” unfortunately I wasn’t present to bring this small man down a peg. So I decided to go with the better half two weeks later. We arrived and was greeted pleasantly, waited a couple of minutes to sit down ordered our drinks etc. The food was lovely! However, upon receiving the bill, the wine (Large Pinot Grigio) was £11.20 per glass! I couldn’t believe my eyes. I questioned why it was so expansive as I had just moved from London and it was the same price. He replied “we have over heads, gas electricity etc! If you want a cheap bottle of wine go to the local shop! You cannot buy this wine from your local shop” so I laughed and checked the price of the bottles on the drinks menu. So it’s £19 per bottle or £33.60 for 3 large glasses which consists of the same volume…at £19 per bottle it would be adamant you can purchase it at a local shop. The attitude of Greg was utter rubbish. The wait times were rubbish. Just wouldn’t go again unless the customer service and overall wait times improve. All other staff seemed...

The food was simply divine. The sushi is in my opinion, one of my top two all time favourite, freshest most delicious plate of fish i have ever eaten! However having said that... the dumplings were absolutely divine handmade parcels of heaven especially the sui mai, while our main courses of Taiwanese pork rice and the angry chicken stir fry were just pure flavour bombs. I mean me and my husband were stuffed with the generous portion sizes! But we couldn't stop eating and the food coma after was again in my opinion definitely worth it!
The staff were so lovely and attentive. Even when I made a total fool of myself and knocked my drink off the table, they would not let me help tidy and my drink was promptly replaced at no charge! I mean that was just the kindest touch from them. Also I totally understand why the ginger ichiban is their number 1 mocktail for a reason.
Lastly what is truly appreciated abour this restaurant (including the owners, staff and chefs(with our deepest compliments to them) is the variety of the menu. It's not just the standard fair and really brings to light asian cuisine and the delicacies from each country. As much as its loved.. asian food is not only salt and pepper chicken.
As eatingwithtod says.. if you can't take a date take a mate! You don't want...
