We visited the bottomless belt yesterday and overall the experience was okay, but there were a few disappointments. The biggest issue was the lack of vegetarian options and half the menu was already out of stock when we arrived at 5:30. Since one of our group is vegetarian, this made things difficult. When we asked a staff member which plates were vegetarian (after picking up green plates and finding they weren’t always meat-free), we were told that the bottomless belt is “not vegetarian friendly” and that we’d need to check each plate ourselves. This was surprising, as other branches I’ve visited usually have clearer labeling, and the green plates are typically guaranteed vegetarian. It doesn’t seem like too much to ask for consistent plant-based options, especially as Yo Sushi normally offers a good variety for vegetarians. It is also not widely advertised that the belt isn’t “vegetarian friendly” which would’ve been nice to know before booking and when I tried ringing up to check, there was an automated message about booking, nothing to ask about enquiries.
For the non-vegetarians in our group, the experience was a bit better. We felt we got good value for money, but the selection was limited, and we ended up having the same plates multiple times, which got repetitive. Since it was a Thursday, we expected more variety given the restaurant should have a good idea of demand for the bottomless belt. Service was also a challenge, we struggled to get staff attention for drinks, and even if we’d wanted to order additional food outside the deal, there was no one available to help.
Overall, the deal itself is decent value, but it’s not very vegetarian-friendly, which was disappointing. With clearer labeling, more consistent stock, and a bit more variety, this could have been a much more...
Read moreThere is a lady who usually serves us here, and she is phenomenal—unfortunately, I never caught her name. She’s the reason we started visiting again.
Sadly, she wasn’t in tonight, and I genuinely wish we hadn’t come back.
We ordered the bottomless belt and were seated at the end, so by the time the food made its way to us, there was hardly anything left to choose from—it was mostly gone by the time it reached us.
There weren’t many hot items available either, like the katsu.
We raised our concerns with the staff, but it felt like things went downhill from there. No drink refills were offered, and nothing else was done to address our issues.
To make matters worse, just as we finally managed to get some decent items that weren’t just edamame beans, the man next to us vomited multiple times all over the floor and into a bin.
At that point, we decided to leave. When we went to pay, the waitress—who was ringing up our bill—said "sorry" while laughing and even offered us another table, despite us saying we felt extremely nauseous from being near someone who had just thrown up.
I had to be firm and explain that it wasn’t unreasonable to not want to eat in a restaurant where someone had just vomited at the table next to us.
She then showed us the bill, and although we hesitated since we couldn’t even finish our meal, she eventually comped one of the bottomless belts. But honestly, it wasn’t worth it. I left feeling sick, and I’m not sure if it was the questionable salmon being served or just the overall experience of being around someone throwing up.
Oh, and when the vomiting happened, the staff just stood there and did nothing—we had to move ourselves.
Honestly, the lady who usually serves us seems to run the place, because every time I’ve been there without her, it’s...
Read moreI'm really quite disappointed with how downhill this place has went over the years. I decided to visit today after hearing about their new ordering system and the only thing I can say with that and the general experience was that it was very disappointing.
The food was OK no more or less but the portions, presentation and ultimately the price was really not justified. The food itself tasted good but their price tag really does not do it justice. Regarding their ordering system it really just felt the case of an idea that was poorly executed. You have to scan a QR code on your phone with brings you to the ordering menu where you can pick what you want to order. This would seem fine however the communication between you and the waiting staff is very minimal owing to the fact that you cannot ask them any questions about the dishes while you are ordering; on top of that, not too long back there used to be a button assigned to each of the tables where you could call for assistance but this has now since been removed which means you can only rely on staff that might just so happen to walk past you if you need any help.
I also can't believe just how bad they have gone now in just a matter of a few years, if I came to visit here not too long back then this review would've been at least 4 or 5 stars owing to how quick and attentive their service was, their food portions and the efficient communication between the customers and the staff! I really don't think I will ever be able to enjoy the same experiences I used to have here years back and frankly there's both better and cheaper places to eat at the Metrocentre rather than...
