The Free Man - JD Wetherspoon — Restaurant in Gedling

Just walked out the pub as stood at the bar waiting to be served, waited whilst people came and went to the bar, could see two staff were on table serving orders which I have no issue with, girl with glasses came in front of me and I asked if I would be served as others who came to bar after were being served whilst I was stood there, got told they were there before me which I questioned as one bloke waved to me I no who came in afterwards, anyway told I was shouting which I said I certainly was not she responded she was not arguing and walked away. Another lady came who despite my frustration clearly looked to excuse my version as being busy, I no the place well it was far from busy, started to order but felt the demeanor of the lady now serving me as being not happy because I dare call out poor customer service, my partner came in and I just decided atmosphere i felt towards me meant i needed to go in the brickyard on the corner instead, what a difference, take note about customer service Freeman you could learn something, this post won't make any difference but I feel better for telling the truth, hey Freeman staff learn these words" sorry I did not see you there and I will come back and serve you when I've finished serving this gentleman" I would have responded with no worries it happens....... some customer service training me be needed here of how you treat customers rather than looking to blame the custome.,To top it off two people appoligised as I left as they thought i was already being served otherwise they would have pointed out i was already waiting, thats despite the bar lady telling me I got there after them indicating I was lying, check your cameras. Thank god usually the staff are great in there and most of the staff are not as defensive if wrong or a genuine mistake happens, an apology and understanding goes a long way and heads off little...

Not really sure about this place. Been a few times and the service is fast if you use their app, but the staff haven't been that friendly to us. I get that working in a pub is stressful but we've always felt like the staff didn't care about us, like we're a bit of an inconvenience for just showing up.

When we got there last time we sat down and the table was so sticky and greasy I had to wipe it down myself... Also ordered a large diet pepsi which was just a huge glass full of ice and about two squirts of pepsi... I went to the bar to ask if they could get rid of some of the ice and top up the pepsi seeing as I didn't really get any, and the barmaid said "Well we're told to put that much ice in" and stared at me. Don't really care what you're told, it doesn't help me when I order a £1.99 pepsi and get 90% ice... After having to push it further she gave in and topped my drink up reluctantly. My husband's chips also turned up cold so he had to ask for hot ones, which in fairness they did bring out immediately.

This was not the usual early doors Wetherspoons experience I was expecting. The clientele were different and the pub was quite busy , the staff were attentive and the pub was very clean especially the toilets , no signs of vandalism or graffiti. The service at the bar was quick and polite and the Guinness tasted good and was poured properly. We sat outside at the front as it was a nice day and during our 3 hour stay our table was regularly checked for empty glasses . We chose not to eat but there was plenty of people doing so so that would suggest the food being served was good . The overall experience was very good and a Wetherspoons I would...
