A proper pub that sells food rather than a licensed restaurant that happens to have a bar. Good value, proper pub grub and good portions so come hungry! Make sure to check the specials board too. Outside seating at the front and I'm told the garden out the back is lovely too, didn't see it on our visit because the weather wasn't great. Nice large car park on the other side of the road. Events/parties catered for to so I'm told. Worth a visit 👍🍻 *** BREAKFAST UPDATE *** The breakfasts are awesome and exceptional value for money I think! 2x full breakfasts with a pot of tea and a pot of coffee (3 full mugs from each pot) plus 4 slices of toast for £20.90p ! *** Update August 6th 2023 *** Popped in today to try the Sunday Roast. Once again, fab service and friendly staff. I don't normally have the roasts when we're out but Friar Tucks came highly recommended and as our last visit was so good we thought we'd try it. We had the Roast Pork and Roast Chicken and it was delicious! It felt and tasted like proper home cooked food! Give it a go I don't think you'll be disappointed. *** Update March 3rd 2024 *** Visited for Sunday lunch again, bring your appetite! Still great food, still friendly service and still brilliant value. Love it. Book in advance!

Came for a lovely roast dinner this evening (12/11/23) with my sister and our partners. Neither myself or my partner have been to the Friar Tucks before but was pleasantly surprised by the food and customer service, everything was cooked to perfection, service was good, the 2 ladies who delt with us were so friendly, warm and welcoming that it's a shame we didn't catch their names! the portion sizes were good that we all came away feeling full and happy. We would definitely recommend and would happily come back again.

Didn't stay here. Went there on a rainy Saturday for lunch with friends. The service was very good and the food was tasty and well presented. I had the lamb. However, the ham egg and chips looked very good and the ham was nice and thick. So will go try that next time.

Fantastic value for money. We stayed for one night with our dog. Chris the owner is very welcoming and friendly, he told us all about the local area and what’s around. We went on a lovely walk along the canal and looped back around to the shops then back here. There’s plenty to do in the area. |The rooms are great, they are small but clean, warm and have everything you’d need for your stay. |The pub itself is lovely, very clean, great selection of drinks on tap and the food is good. Free parking across the road. |All the locals were super welcoming, really friendly and chatty they also made a big fuss of our dog Bonnie which was really kind. |The staff came over multiple times with treats and water for her too. |There’s also a lovely big beer garden and seating at the front. ||The breakfast is fantastic and included in the price. Plenty of options, we ordered the full English which was great but huge so would have the smaller one next time. They even cooked a sausage for Bonnie which was a lovely touch. ||We went to the pub next door which wasn’t as welcoming so spent our evening here and they had a singer on in the evening. |Thanks for a great stay, we look forward to...
