Kitchen Closed Early I have always had good experiences at this restaurant and I find the staff to be friendly and the food always very tasty although overpriced and I was a loyal customer. However on my last visit , my partner and I contacted the restaurant to check whether they were busy and to see if we can book a table for two, we were told that they were busy earlier but things have been quieting down and that we could just turn up. We were told that the kitchen closed at 6pm , so as long as we arrived before then it would be fine. We got to the restaurant at 5:30pm and waited a while at the sign outside to be seated. A staff member approached us and immediately said that we could be seated but we won’t be able to order food as they have decided to close the kitchen early to give their staff a break. We tried to explain that we had called ahead but this did not make any difference. I can fully appreciate that the staff may have needed a break that day , however in order to give a fully reliable and dependable service to customers , I feel that the restaurant needs to stick to their policies or word as advertised. We felt very unwelcomed and it was hugely disappointing and also very embarrassing being turned away in front of other customers. Luckily we were able to find another restaurant that evening where we managed to enjoy a good meal , coupled with excellent customer service. I’m afraid I won’t be going to this restaurant for a while because I don’t know what service to expect when I when I get there. I’ve given it a 2 star because the food does taste nice and the location...
Read moreLovely food, some reviews say expensive but prices have risen everywhere and the quality of their roast dinner is well worth the price. However we’ve been twice and the second time we weren’t seated in the main area. I reserved at 2 months ago and they were going to put us at a coffee table for lunch which wasn’t suitable for our 90+ age relative, hence we ended up albeit by the window in the area little used. Had numerous tables and chairs stacked in it which were for sale, no atmosphere and untidy. Even worse was we had to go to the bar to ask twice for cutlery, then sauces, then a jug of water. The table was going to be laid as we sat down the waitress with ‘ supervisor’ on her T-shirt said which never happened ( not a lot of supervision going on) hence having to ask for cutlery twice once they’d literally ‘dumped’ the starter on our table. The staff were friendly enough, but we felt the service was poor and once in this area we were all but forgotten. An inconvenience for them. Having said that we couldn’t fault our food ( coffee was lukewarm when we eventually got it )and the bill, once we got it was for someone else’s table! We will eat there again but will stipulate we want a table in...
Read moreI usually only review places where something has occurred that has stood out to me.
Today, around 10:30am i was with a good friend o' mine and we rocked up to OTW for some good old breakfast. Im naturally really oddball about how my eggs are cooked, and so i asked the girl at the till if i could get a hard yolk. She said the chef wasnt particularly fond of such requests lol.
But she worked her magic and managed to turn all kinds of tables, and low and behold, bobs ya uncle, that egg was smashin!
Oh also, the girl at the till swung by after and we had a friendly chat, as she picked up our irish & scottish accents.
In fact, (this probs isnt the place to say this haha) i was kinda starstruck by her lol. Her eyes were... mesmerising, is that weird. She was cute, is what im trying to say. I wish i asked for her name🤭
As we left i felt as if i was on a tether, psychologically reeling me back in there.
Anyway, enough of the poetry. Amazing food, amazing service, amazing people, and awesome dogs roaming around.
I second the person that said "best fry ive ever had"!
Yea lol, if i wasnt leaving fareham in a week, i'd be back in a...
