Angel Inn — Restaurant in Great Britain

As a Uni student almost every girl I know who has gone to Angel has been roofied there. Happened to myself and I ended up getting kicked out alone with my phone dead because they said I was harassing people even tho I was very obviously drugged and told them that. I only drank HALF of the drink I got drugged in and my friend ( who is 6’5 ) drank the other drink and half. If I had drank both drinks that were roofied I doubt I would be alive right now considering how massive he is and how drugged we both were. Luckily, he came out the pub a few minutes after but we both have zero recollection of how we got home. If you are a woman in Angel watch your drink like an absolute hawk and keep your hand over it AT.ALL.TIMES. Went to staff multiple times during the day asking to talk to the manager about getting roofied there and to ask for them to review the footage since I knew exactly where I was and what drink it was. After many failed attempts lucky a member of staff who knew my friend that got roofied called the manager to come in and speak to me. I was told they would speak with their bouncers about the safety considerations they need to make for girls who have obviously been roofied yet everytime I have been since have not seen a change. They told me it was the BARTENDERS job to watch for spiking even tho on drum and bass nights it is so busy that would nearly be an impossible ask. Two of my close friends got roofied AGAIN on drum and bass night not long ago. If you are a woman never go to angel alone, and there seriously needs to be changes made for security, management, and staff. They never got back to anyone I know after promising to look through footage which I doubt even happened as to sheerly how common being roofied is in this pub I doubt at this point they don’t bother. Been coming here for years, hasnt got any better just worse.

Uncomfortable atmosphere, unkempt, the staff are miserable and the cieling collapsed. The bouncers direct slurs under their breath and aggressive behaviour at guests all while ensuring their ID is hidden. Not to mention some bouncers perving on the women coming in. I witnessed a boy getting beaten by his girlfriend only for the bouncers to laugh at him and accuse him of being weak.

Bar staff and bouncers do their aggressive mates favours, allowing some people to cause fights and take away the individual who's been hit.

The back room isn't much better, the events are slapped together and i've only heard one decent band in 4 years. Being spiked in Angel is common knowledge, the unemployed, young student clientel are foul.

During the day the atmosphere is non existent and even a little uncomfortable.

All-in-all a vile place where you can expect to have a bad time if you dont suck up to people there or aren't easily...

Out of all the pubs in Aberystwyth the Angel is one of my favourites. Always has a great atmosphere, with an even mix of locals and students and some very interesting characters. Because of the mix of people the atmosphere is unique and worthwhile, and you are always bound to find some interesting conversation at the bar. The beer is a little overpriced but seeing as its one of the last pubs open you kind of expect it really. Good selection of spirits which tend to be better value for money than the beer. The decor is just that of your typical pub, but has a cosy feel to it. Toilets are rather small and smelly and could be improved.
