A friend and I visited for two nights this lovely (refurbished over the winter) bed and breakfast. We had a twin room with new decor with sink and good quality handwash and clean storage space under. A mirror would be helpful over so that one doesn't go out with a toothpaste mouth although there is a good full length one on the door. A towel rail would also be useful. The new beds were very comfortable. There is a reasonable size wardrobe with a case stand for one under the hanging space but only two hangers. An ironing board and a hairdryer, an iron available at reception. A full size kettle (great) and a good selection of drinks sachets including oat milk which is most impressive for one with a vegan daughter! A first on my travels. More freely available behind the reception desk no need to ask. Some tumblers in the room would be nice to have for the complimentary bottles of water. There are a couple available at reception. A small neat new television is wall mounted. As this has no en suite there is nowhere to dry the lovely white fluffy bath towels apart from over the wardrobe door. This also means that there is six stairs down and then four steps up to the shower and toilet suite and although excellent automatic sensor lighting when venturing to the loo at night it is a bit precarious if one is mobility challenged. I understand there is a ground floor room available with good notice. There are still quite a few steps down to the breakfast room but that for most would certainly be manageable. The brand new double size shower room and a separate lavatory have plenty of paper hand towels and toilet rolls available in baskets outside the two units. For those with no en suite it would be nice to have a separate bath mat provided rather than just one communal one. Plenty of shampoo and shower gel also freely available at reception along with the sachets. A nice sitting room with books and games. Excellent breakfast with a variety of cereals and cooked options including vegan of good quality local produce. Nice hot plates, one of the bees in in my bonnet!! Parking is unrestricted but naturally being so close to the sea very busy. Lovely friendly owners and staff. I will certainly recommend this place to anyone and will certainly come...
Read moreThis guest house had good reviews on trip advisor, so we booked a one-night stay as it was a birthday surprise for my husband. Before we arrived, we received a text message telling us that due to staff illness no one would be there to check us in and informing us what to do, however, on arrival there was a man on reception. The 1970s patterned carpet and anaglypta wallpaper was the first thing we observed that gave us a hint as to what was to come next. I have never, in all my years of staying in hotels, seen such an outdated and old-fashioned room. The bathroom had no sink, sink was in bedroom (never seen that before and not hygienic re washing hands after using toilet). The wash basin had an almost empty Carex soap dispenser. The shower looked like it came from the ark. The decor was dated and old. The bedding looked clean but by this time we knew we would not be sleeping in it. The cups and saucers on the tea tray looked as old as the decor. The window was dirty and was wide open to disguise what seemed to be a musty smell and clearly something had recently been sprayed in there to disguise the smell. We turned around before touching anything and left the key on the counter and very politely, informed the man on reception we would not be staying. We then informed booking.com whom we booked through, and they said they would ask this hotel to refund us. Hotel refused to do so and sent us a message informing us of such and left a totally unnecessary comment of ' if you didn't stay that's your decision and a very foolish one at that' then informing us how clean they were and how good their breakfast was etc. Charming and showing a complete lack of concern. It is also called GwesTY on booking.com, not Glyn Garth, no idea why it is...
Read moreStayed for 1 night on Wednesday, 03rd September 2025. Booked in advance on the Booking com website for £81, which included breakfast for a double en-suite room. Arrived late afternoon and booking site details there is free parking, but this is just street parking and tbh its rammed around there. Once we found a space, we found both front doors open, which was useful but strange, as the reception was unmanned and our pack (including room and front door key) was just sitting on the said unmanned reception desk. This wasn't an accident, as there is a note to advise that this is what to expect. We made our way to the room (Prima, I believe) through a convoluted set of stairwells, which you get with these B&B house conversions, I find. The room was adequate, with IKEA furniture and a decent shower, though you had to collect shower gels from reception. The bed was comfortable, and tea/coffee-making facilities were nicely supplemented with biscuits. There was a free-standing lamp which had a floor switch, which was located under the writing table! In the morning, we went for breakfast and saw our first B&B representatives who waited on us and delivered a lovely cooked breakfast. No sweeteners available, bar standard sugar and coffee on the peculator was cold, but bar that it was fine. Overall, the experience was fine, but I wouldn't recommend staying for more...
