Y Gornel — Restaurant in Wales

Would rate it less if I could .blatantly racist and prejudice . The heavy set owner/ manager man with the white hair was talking through his staff even though we were stood oposite him .He refused to give us breakfast said that they stopped taking breakfast orders at 11:30 .. the time was 11:00 ?? when staff checked her phone she made up another story about how breakfast ended at 10 . They gave us a drinks menu and were even reluctant when we said we’d sit outside they had to “ discuss it “ .female staff member was overall nice and was clearly following orders . Stuttering and foolish they didn’t have a right answer as to why they wouldn’t sit us inside later on or how long to wait for a table .would not recommend this establishment your skin is darker than...

Today we visited Y Gornel for lunch. The lunch menu is nice and varied, with options catering for lots of different tastes whilst retaining a traditional Welsh theme, and not too expensive either. I had a flat white to drink, it was ever so slightly burned but was still tasty and at £2.50 I had no complaints. The food was absolutely delicious. The lamb cawl is a must have, and the soup was also exquisite. Staff were very friendly and helpful. You might be waiting a little while for your food in busy periods as it is a small business, but no complains about the quality of service whatsoever. The staff are also bilingual in English and Welsh which is a nice touch. All in all would totally recommend visiting. Diolch yn...

Aberystwyth has some places to get a great breakfast, but Y Gornel is now at the top of my list. This delightful little cafe is a couple of hundred yards from the more travelled parts of town, but well worth checking out. The Full breakfast was sublime, every component cooked beautifully and seasoned to perfection. You can tell the produce is of high quality and has excellent depth of flavour.

We had some cakes to take away for later, and they were excellent, moist and tasty.

The staff were helpful, friendly and should be proud of the service they provide.

I would definitely recommend Y Gornel for breakfast, and will be coming back next time...
