Balti Central — Restaurant in Great Britain

Visit to celebrate my birthday with 9 friends. Food was 10/10 and highly recommended. Service requires work. Had to ask after 45 mins of being sat at the table for our drinks orders to be taken. Another wait before asking for our food orders to be taken. Cutlery only brought to the table just before food arrived. When the starters finally arrived they were amazing. Very tasty and large portion sizes. Waiters cleared tables before everyone had finished eating which really isn't respectful. Asked for the bill at the end of the meal and for a menu so we could all ensure we paid correctly. I am an organiser of a social club and we attend our Supper Nights every month at different venues with no issue.

The waiter then told me that we were £16.00 short despite everyone paying and adding a tip. I went with him to the counter where he added it up again and was told we were over £30.00 short.

I assured him this was not the case and using his calculator and the payment receipts added it up twice in front of him which showed we had substantially overpaid. Despite watching me do it twice he then did it again himself and found this to be the case.

His response was I am sorry I must have made a mistake!

My birthday evening had been ruined and I was made to feel untrustworthy despite him having watched me add it up correctly.

With hindsight I wish I had taken back our tip and donated it to charity.

Only after leaving the restaurant did I become aware that this had happened previously to my friends.

Very sad that they try to rip off their customers. Good job we were on the ball as some customers may not be.

Staff was very rude... One waiter In particular.. we had food to start with... we asked him if they had certain starters(we listed them out) sheepishly he answered we don't serve these here ( these were proper Indian cuisine items) we asked for the dishes we started with as they tasted bice but dint order main course...the waiter was upset because we dint order any main course dishes.. he said "are you for real" After that we got offended, still we held our composure.. he said I won't serve you if you don't order a main course.. At that point we figured enough is enough.. we asked for the bill.. not only did they charge us a 3£ service charge.. they even gave us the wrong change..we had to ask them for the correct change..i have more character to bad mouth an establishment that I'm sure came through the ranks to serve good food but this experience was something I could do without Just not fair to the customers and the restaurant because of some uncourteous bloke.. I've been going to Balti Central on & off for nearly 10 years, we used to eat in regularly, the portions are great & are served in large heavy metal bowls. The naan's are huge and cooked great!

The restaurant is usually quite busy and has a buzzing atmosphere, although they look busy we've always managed to get a table even if we haven't booked. The staff are attentive & you can take your own drinks or buy drinks there (they have good options to choose from).

Recently we've had a few takeaways from Balti Central, again naans are big and currys are a great size with lots of sauce, they've been delivered in good time.

I would highly recommend eating in or a takeaway from Balti Central.
