Awful - ordered a couple of soft drinks had a bitter after taste as if it hadnāt been washed out and saw bits floating inside. Had to fight to get our table wiped down and the bloke went to wipe another table when I asked for ours to be wiped and had to ask him again to come over to our table. He wiped it with a barely damp piece of blue roll and I could still feel a sticky cast on the table. Then I came to the shocking realisation that the discolouration on top of the metal table top was a thick layer of pure dirt as you can see. I scratched away and it was literally gunked up dirt and came off with a simple scratch. If I can give them some advice a soft metal scourer and some bar keepers friend would sort that out instantly. I literally never complain and have a long history of hospitality work so I know how hard it can be and try to focus my efforts on positive reviews. I know what itās like in hospitality when it gets busy but there were literally 3 tables in there when I sat down itās just embarrassing that they couldnāt pull their finger out. I was actually disgusted and I just wanted to leave. The staff attitudes were so blasĆ© and came off lazy and unbothered. They were spending more time talking and aimlessly wandering than doing anything. From working in that industry since I was 16 (now 27) I can safety say there is literally always something to restock deep clean or wipe down.
Please do better as the Wetherspoons over the road is crushing it, you have no excuse - went to spoons the day before and they were giving rapid and friendly service and they wiped down a dirty table for us so we could sit down outside and kept coming back to clear plates as we had loads of people ordering food at different times.
Itās a cost of living crisis and going out even for a quick coffee is now a luxury for most people so donāt waste...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDirty Fries Beef Chilli I called in to Coffi Co on Mermaid Quay for a bite to eat, I normally order on the app but I could not connect so I ordered at the counter. I asked for a spicy chicken wrap but appears they are not the menu so I opted for the Dirty Fries Beef Chilli and an Americano coffee. The staff were very nice and the coffee arrived promptly but the food took some time to arrive and I had finished the hot coffee before it was put in front of me. Looking at the menu now it looks as though Coffi Co have gone big on variations of ādirty friesā but I have to say my first experience of them will be my last. When you scraped the melted cheese and the beef chilli (which had so little chilli in it that it was practically a bland gravy) you were basically left with a pile of soggy inedible chips. What a disappointment for a Ā£10 lunch, I have to say I was surprised at the poor quality of the food as I was a big fan of Coffi Co. I like some of the premises they have and like others have said they seem to rely on their prime locations for business, but I would have to agree with some others that the quality of the food has really gone down hill. Perhaps the owner has made his fortune and is only interested in bringing in the money, they seem to situated be all over the place in Cardiff but I doubt very much whether they will continue to attract people to eat unless they return to the way they used to be. Iāve given 2 stars for the coffee and the friendly staff. By the way, what you see in the attached photo is practically what I left, Iām not the fussiest of eaters but the meal...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA tale of two breakfast visits, if I had only visited once it would be a five star review. We arrived and went to the counter; a guy took our order and we went outside to get a seat all very nice and friendly. The coffee was brought over first which to be honest was lukewarm but tasted nice despite this. The food (I had the loaded banana bread and my hubby had a cinnamon bun) was really good! The view and surroundings were perfect.
So a great visit, so much so we decided to go back the following day and oh how utterly different that was! We arrived and approached the counter again, there were three people behind it, two I presume chefs (greasy looking, scowling, very off putting) and one guy who I guess was meant to be āservingā. They all became very busy doing anything but make eye contact, scowling a bit more, actively ignoring us so we thought ok weāll try the screen but that needed the table number and as the previous day we hadnāt found a seat yet. We stood waiting until it became much more than uncomfortable, all that needed to be said was can you find a seat please then use the screen, that would have been polite, good business practice, you know ā not utterly rude, we would have sat down and got on with it. But the utter contempt that was thrown our way made us say forget this and go elsewhere, somewhere that wanted peoples business without treating them like pond scum ā looking at the reviews here it seems like they do this all the time which is ridiculous, I wonder if the...
