First of all, beautiful location and the staff was lovely and friendly. I had the butter chicken which was absolutely delicious. However, the reason I'm only giving it three stars is the service was extremely slow. Had booked a table and it was early so the restaurant was almost empty, but we still had to wait for 25 minutes before having to go find someone in the bar so that we could go to our table and throughout the meal, waiting for our food and dessert and then paying, we had to wait for a very very long time. I don't usually mind because I know they are working hard, but the restaurant was almost empty and it still took a very long time. My family who was with me also had the (mushroom pappardelle and prawn pappardelle) could almost not enjoy the food because they were surprisingly spicy and didn't have that much actual flavour beyond that. The Eton Mess was also a bit of a letdown as it was clotted cream instead of whipped cream which made it very heavy. Beyond that, I probably will return to have a drink at the bar while enjoying the location. :)

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Dock bar and restaurant in Cardiff Bay, and I would give it a solid 4-star rating. One of the standout features is their pet-friendly policy, which is a welcoming touch for dog owners. The prices are in line with what you'd expect from a venue like this, with most meals starting at around £15 and starters at approximately £7. I opted for the "Big Bay Burger," and I must say, it was a delightful culinary experience. The burger was juicy, fresh, and bursting with flavor, easily ranking among the best burgers I've ever had. The staff was friendly and attentive, contributing to a pleasant atmosphere accompanied by enjoyable background music. In terms of drink prices, they were reasonable, with singles averaging around £7 and doubles at £9. Overall, my visit to The Dock was a great experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others or return for another visit. The combination of pet-friendliness, delicious food, friendly staff, and a vibrant atmosphere makes it a place worth trying.

I seriously don't understand what is happening with this place. I come here often because I like the location and it's a nice and open space. The drink selection is also reasonable. However, the last few times I have ordered food, and this place is expensive mind, it has been abysmal. I ordered a rare steak that came back tougher than the boots I was wearing. A separate time I ordered chips and they came out twenty minutes later ice old. The most recent time and the reason for me leaving this review is because I decided to take a chance on the Sunday lunch. Costing £19.95 with stuffing balls, I'd expect something decent. Seriously, I have never paid for such a bad roast dinner before. It was ridiculous. Stuffing balls like bullets, soggy Yorkshire pudding because the gravy had been poured on while still in the kitchen . God knows what happened to what I think was the parsnips. For twenty quid. I won't be coming back again out of principle. Sort your damn kitchen out.

My partner and I were very much looking forward to visiting the Dock again, and had planned to have some food and a couple of drinks. We arrived on time at 7.30pm but had to wait outside because of track and trace. I thought it may have been because people were finishing off their meals however, this was clearly not the case when we eventually sat down.

We were offered a table near the bar that was much closer than the 2m distance rule stipulates, and instead chose table 9 which was out of the way from others. My earlier comment about food was not the case as 99% of customers were drinking only, and I guess having their fill before moving to the pubs in the City Centre.

We ordered 2 drinks, one double gin and one double vodka. We then tried to order food and were dismayed at the lack of choice. Nothing on the steaks menu, that included gammon. Little choice on the pub classics, and a few starters but no sharers i.e. Nachos etc.

It took us 15 mins to find something to eat and I ended up having a Classic burger, and my partner steak and ale pie.

By this time the drinks, doubles by the way, arrived at the table. My partner commented that she could not taste any alcohol and when I tasted her gin and lemonade I tended to agree. I took the drink to the bar where the barman took a straw and tried the drink himself. He said he could taste 'a little' alcohol but not much. We had ordered 2 doubles. These were also our first drinks of the day. He added a little extra gin to my partners glass. I could also not taste alcohol in my drink but decided to not comment because I did not want to ruin the evening.

The food arrived and it was immediately apparent the burgers had been microwaved. There was congealed cheese between them and when pulled apart the heat came through. They were hard on fhe corners and really not a nice eating experience. My partner said her steak pie was ok although she said her deep fried cauliflower light bite was not very nice.

We decided that if we were going to have a second drink that we would order the alcohol separate to the mixer. Then we decided that we shouldnt have to stoop qto those types of quality assurance methods and got up and left the Dock.

All in all these was an extremely poor experience having used The Dock on many occasions previously because of its close proximity to where I live. When we first went here during lockdown it was far better, but unfortunately for me these standards have dropped to below an acceptable level.

I will not be returning until things improve and will use other establishments in the near...

A pretty horrible experience unfortunately. My 5 year old daughter and I called in for lunch & after a long wait were seated and waited quite a while again for menus. I subsequently had to go up to the bar and ask for a children's menu.

Our drinks took far too long to come and eventually came at the same time as our main meals. Unfortunately my daughters chicken pieces & fries were so overcooked that she wasn't able to eat them.

It then became apparent that her hot chocolate had both a piece of plastic and a human hair in it. At this point we both stopped eating/drinking (although I'd pretty much finished my food) and called the waitress over.

She was obviously very apologetic and very polite about the issues we had. I explained I was reluctantly content to pay for my food, given I'd eaten the majority of it, but couldn't accept paying for my daughters food.

I was therefore a little disappointed that they still chose to charge for my daughters starter and drink (that is part of the chidrens 3 course menu), but in my eagerness to leave didn't challenge it. On reflection I should have refused to pay for any food as I genuinely felt pretty queasy for the remainder of the day given what had happened.

Finally I have to mention that on taking my daughter to the toilet, the facilities were not clean & there was no toilet paper available.

On reflection, I have reported the issue with the drink to the food safety team at Cardiff Council as it was in no...

Wowzers! Couldn't pick. better place to go and have a glass of water! I popped in after a long jog around the Bay and was rather parched, so parched in fact that had I waited a moment longer I'd have run the risk of dying on the sidewalk. The first place I saw close to me was the Dock Bar and Kitchen, these people truly saved my life.

I went through the whole track and trace procedure short of breath and my mouth totally dry, I was sat at a comfortable table with a nice view of the Bay. And I thought, "hmmm if I die of thirst here, I wouldn't mind, the views quite nice." I ordered a glass of water and my goodness was it the freshest glass of water I've had in a millennia, and it wasn't because of my senses being raged by thirst for when my wits returned after drinking that lovely water, I ordered a whole jug along with some food and gargantuan amounts of Malfy gin.

The staff are next level humans, especially this skinny shoulder length haired gentleman with the pink glasses who looks like he's been frozen in a block of ice since the 60's. They all served me wonderfully and I had a ball!

Would highly recommend this place for not just the water, not just the staff, not the just the food, but for the...
