I've long maintained that Dane & Port is my favourite restaurant in Bournemouth. After some reflection this evening, I believe it's actually my favourite restaurant in the world. I live in East London, so have some of the country's best restaurants, the most hipster venues, and best choice of vegan and natural dining on my doorstep. But no one does it as well as Isabel and Robin.
I'm not a vegan, but I like to eat fresh, delicious, natural food when possible. My first meal here blew me away. My second even more so, if only because it was completely different and equally remarkable. Isabel's fresh, daily, home-style cooking is served with top flight restaurant style and elegance, nuanced and surprising flavours with brilliant choice of seasonal ingredients, and the hearty fullness of dinner at your mum's. I'm a six foot, 100kg rugby player, and I never leave hungry.
The most impressive thing about what Robin and Isabel have created is the feel of the place. Where some places have the trappings of natural or new age culture and love to tell you how wonderful they are, D&P just quietly and lovingly gets on and does it. The first time I visited I felt like I was eating with family, and the excellent serving staff all maintain this atmosphere. It slows me down, calms my mind, and nourishes my body. Sounds cheesy, but it's true.
Take a date. Take your parents. Take your kids. Take your mates after work. Don't let anyone be put off by the 'natural' label or decor. You've been to Zim Brai and Koh Thai dozens of times - make Dane & Port your new regular.

Read moreThis truly hidden gem in Westbourne offers a dining experience that is, quite simply, a masterclass in the art of Mediterranean plant-based cuisine. The chilled energy of the venue is complemented by service that is both polished and attentive.
The evening was defined by the exemplary service of Jack. His enthusiasm and knowledgeable approach, paired with an intuitive grasp of the menu, ensured that each recommendation was made with precision. Jack is, without doubt, an asset to this establishment.
The culinary execution was equally distinguished. Theo, the chef, not only crafts dishes of remarkable finesse but also took the time to personally present them to us, an attention to detail seldom encountered. The balance of flavours was nothing short of exquisite, showcasing a deep understanding of Mediterranean ingredients and plant-based innovation.
Dane & Port excels in every facet, and for those seeking refined plant-based dining in Bournemouth, it is an unequivocal...
Read moreWe found this recently opened plant based deli on Westbourne High Street and we were absolutely blown away. It defies categorisation as it offers so much to the customer. Robin and Isabel have created an amazingly warm and inviting atmosphere, with plants covering every surface, soft lighting and enticing smells that emanate from the kitchen.
The food is delicious and flavoursome, their daily changing menu is a much needed reminder that a plant based diet doesn't have to compromise on flavour or taste. It's offered as a tapas style meal and it allows you to try each delicacy that comes from their creative pantry. We washed it all down with one of their fresh pressed juices and the best surprise was how reasonable the bill was.
Undoubtedly we will be coming back and we will be taking our friends. Its wonderful to see a local business starting up in tough times and we wish Robin and Isabel good luck but I suspect they...
