On Arrival to this new cafe I was disappointed with initial Greeting & distant attitude of the Manager who showed us to our table, his manner was such that I actually asked if he was okay as he seemed extremely stressed and distracted when taking our order, he snapped back he was three staff members down and was trying to deal with everything. Our order of two simple vegetarian Breakfast arrived, only to discover they were both breakfasts containing meat, no apology was made when our dishes were removed. The Manager passed table several times without making any eye contact or attempt to reassure us the correct dish would arrive asap. The table next to us requested something extra and received the same Curt abrupt response. We all understand there’s bound to be teething problems in a new restaurant but it costs nothing to be polite and give your valued customers a smile. I will add the meal was given to us without charge which was of course kind, but maybe more attention to Customer Service would go a long way when we all have vast choices of where to dine these days . The ambience and setting is great, and when the correct food arrived, it...

Visited for first time in the week then today. This has been an extensive refurbishment but some details have been missed, the umbrellas outside are completely unsuitable in the wind and the money spent could have been extended to the smaller details, table accessories etc a little bit more zaz. The food is very tasty but came to the table cold both servings. Not enough staff to serve at busy times and items missed that are on the menu so had to ask for them, no butter/margarine today and forgot the beans, coffee was cold both times also due to long wait. The staff, however, are polite, neat and clean looking, pleasant and eager to please, in particular a lovely young man that served me both times and sorry forgot his name, tall, slim with dark hair. This young gentleman is Managment material and could not do enough to make our time enjoyable and put right any issues. It has so many elements of the up market place that it is wanting to portray but just misses the mark. Just a few tweaks should put this at the front of the...

I have been to deco 6/7 times since it opened - mostly for breakfast but once for dinner. The food is excellent - great ingredients cooked well.

However, the service is pretty unforgivable. For breakfast it's luck of the draw whether you get served within a decent timeframe, staff will disappear without taking orders and it generally feels very erratic and unfocused.

This was exacerbated in the upstairs area when visiting for a roast. After being seated it was 20 minutes until anyone took drinks orders despite multiple people walking past the table. We asked two different members of staff for water twice and it never appeared. Someone came to the table with two more roasts while we were eating and asked if they were for us (obviously not as we were all eating). First time in over a decade that I haven't paid service as it was awful.

This is ultimately really frustrating - we all want the lido to succeed and the food is great - but if you don't improve your service people will...

I came here with my mum for breakfast and unfortunately the whole experience was very disappointing. We waited around 20 minutes before anyone even brought us a menu and the table and cutlery were dirty, clearly not cleaned properly. After ordering, it took a further 30 minutes just for our drinks to arrive. My matcha was full of powdery clumps and my mum’s cappuccino came out cold and spilled over the cup, we had to ask for it to be remade. The food arrived a further 40 minutes later and was also cold. I ordered avocado with poached eggs on sourdough but what I was served was four pieces of bread with a tiny smear of avocado and two eggs on a side of the plate. It looked unappetising and was stone cold. At that point we refused to pay and left. To make matters worse, another table near us had been waiting over an hour only to be told their order hadn’t even been put through.

Lovely cafe in the Lido building. Very fitting decoration for the style of the building. There’s a beautiful art deco style staircase going up in the middle of it and there’s plenty of tables and seating around it overlooking the lido pool. We visited here the very first weekend - Mother’s Day- when they first started serving their breakfast menu. We all enjoyed our food and drinks. Nice tasting coffee. The only thing I would personally change is the toasted bread that comes with the English breakfast/fry up. It’s a bit dry and there’s no butter on it or doesn’t come with butter next to it and some of the slices are cut in chunky thick pieces. Otherwise, we still enjoyed the food, coffees and hot chocolate. Being local we will definitely make this our regular place to come.
