Tucked away on Augusta Street, East Restaurant isn’t just another stop on Llandudno’s culinary map—it’s a destination in its own right. After one dinner there, I found myself back the very next night. That’s not just a good sign. That’s steamed dumpling-level devotion. Let’s start with the food. The steamed dumplings? Little parcels of perfection—delicately soft on the outside with a rich, savoury filling that hits all the right notes. They alone are worth writing home about. But East doesn’t stop there. The menu bursts with specialities that blend bold Asian flavours with elegant presentation. Every dish arrives like it’s the star of the show—and rightly so. front of house staff charming, attentive and quietly commanding the room with calm efficiency. There’s something reassuring about being looked after by someone who clearly knows the place inside and out. And then there’s Rikki—the young lad helping out, full of enthusiasm and energy, genuinely excited to make your evening better. You can’t train that kind of hospitality. It's just there. The atmosphere? Refined but relaxed. Stylish without trying too hard. The kind of place where you feel equally comfortable in a dinner shirt or a comfy jumper—and either way, you're guaranteed a good meal and great service. Final word: East Restaurant is a must-visit, and if you’re lucky, a must-repeat. Excellent food, standout service from Rikki, and steamed dumplings you’ll still be dreaming about on the drive home. Llandudno’s got a gem, and I’m glad I found it—twice.

This place was recommended by one of the owners of the hotel we were staying at and we are glad we took his advice. The menu was varied and interesting including Chinese, Japanese and Thai cuisine. I chose a Japanese beer that I had never had before and a green chicken Thai curry. The drink was acceptable but the meal was exceptional. It was the best Thai green curry I have had since visiting Thailand. My wife had a glass of the house white wine that was ok and ate beef with spring onions and ginger and again the food was delicious. To follow I had a variety of ice creams including one matcha green tea ice cream which again I had never tried before but would certainly have again. My wife had jasmine tea. The waiter was attentive and efficient and although he had a little problem with language we all managed to make ourselves understood. Food was well presented, hot and full of flavour. The whole meal came to just £39.20 which we felt was very reasonable considering the excellent, tasty food we had eaten. If you’re looking for lovely food and good service this is the place to visit.

I ordered chicken kung pao and egg chicken fried rice from the shop after considering the reviews. But I regret my decision. The only good thing about the food was quantity. Kung pao was highly salty and highly garlicky. I love garlic but did not expect that amount of garlic as I did not order garlic chicken. Regarding the egg chicken fried rice, I already confirmed why they are charging almost 3 times to the price of egg fried rice, they said it's proper meal where egg fried rice is just side dish. Even after that, they just added quantity and chickens to the side dish (egg rice). The fried rice had no taste at all and the rice was undercooked. Rice and chickens were very dry. Locals may like the place because of the fact that Chinese food is itself very flavourful but I had better expectations from any Chinese shop and that too when it's family run!

We ate at East on Saturday 30th March. We arrived at 5:30, it took 40 minutes for someone to take our order. Starters arrived sporadically with some people waiting for food when the others had already finished.

The main meal did not arrive until almost 8 o'clock. We had to ask where the food was on several occassions. Most other tables were experiencing the same delays.

There was a large table nearby who were unhappy because their food had taken far too long to arrive and again had not arrived together, what happened next was disgraceful, the manager was called and got involved in a long drawn out debate with the customer over whether or not a discount should be given, he argued that because the customer had said the food was good they should not get any form of discount for the fact the food took almost 2 hours to arrive. A member of the party believed she heard the waitress swear at her and called her out on this, the waitress said she had not sworn at the woman, the two of them continued to shout at each other in front of the other guests.

The customer should not have shouted at the waitress but in my opinion the best thing the staff member could have done to difuse the situation was to apologise for what the customer thought she heard and then walk away. Shouting in the middle of the restaurant is not on.

The food was ok but certainly not something I would...

We pre ordered our food as there was a large group . We were not informed of any other menu so we went off the online one . There was 14 of us, for my friends 40 th birthday . When it came to pay we were like brilliant the food was beautiful and prices were good ! As our party had ended some left (that had payed ) and the lady was quite abrupt and said no one had payed for there starters ? We were all very confused as why wouldn't you charge for starters in the price for the mains when we were paying . The prices were completely different to online (she said they were old ones ) and no one knew they hadn't been charged for starters , Also the lady said to a child that was in our group do you want chicken nuggets and chips (she was having Chinese with us ) They then charged for that too with no explanation by the end of trying to figure out what was owed and who the birthday girl ended up paying and myself for everyone's starters . The gentleman gave the birthday girl 40 pounds back but it ruined what was a lovely evening she was very unprofessional and very unorganised. East is a favourite of most of us but after the embarrassment of being made out we hadn't payed for our food we won't be...
