Had horrendous experience at this hotel last Friday. I have a terminal diagnosis of motor neurone disease and am a full time wheelchair user. In January my husband booked an accessible room for us to have a night away. After travelling 2 hours, we arrived to be told that the room we booked had been given to another couple - booking after us - who wanted a 2 night stay. This is completely outrageous! The only room the hotel could offer us had a small step into a small ensuite with a raised shower and bath, making it totally inaccessible for me. They did not have a ramp or any mats available to help the wheelchair over the step. We asked to speak to a manager and was told no one more senior was available. As I couldn’t physically do the return journey back home, we had no option but to stay. I had to use a disabled toilet on the ground floor (our bedroom was on the second floor) and had to ask for a plastic bowl to wash myself in. Overriding our booking was totally unacceptable, as was the £50 discount they offered. I would not...
Read moreLovely place very scenic and fits the towns vintage theme. Room was only a single but clean and tidy, modern deco and aesthetically appealing. Few issues to consider albeit the above notes. The hallways feel like a real World version of “water ship down” and equally as scary I got to the 2nd floor where my room was and I saw a 4ft man trapped in a door way. I knew then to keep low. The floors were creaky, lose, and felt unlevelled in parts but I couldn’t see pat sharp anywhere so it’s defo not fun house. Phewww
There was some damage to the ceiling in my room so could someone tell Ann frank she needs to get it sorted please. There is also a lovely picture of Maryline Monroe on the wall and it looks like someone spilt yoghurt on it? Prettt sure it’ll wipe off tho.
9/10 reception are also very helpful. Great car park safe and again...
Read moreCertainly very clean, comfortable large bed, excellent shower big room, TV, coffee, tea and biscuits. Nice big breakfast, plenty of choice and flexibility for times. I booked for dinner prior to arriving as after a long day driving didn't want to eat out but only when I asked about my meal when I went to reception did they tell me the chef wasn't in that evening. The staff would have made me sandwiches which was nice of them. Went to the Black Boy Wetherspoons next door to eat. First time at Newtown, I was impressed, nice town, fantastic hotel setting by the river. Long well used path along the river, I went about 3 miles in...
