Fes Mangal — Restaurant in Great Britain

Went here on the recommendation of their sister restaurant in evington as it was closed for holidays. Everything seemed just fine until I went to pay the bill. I was told it was cash only (which I don’t have a problem with) but nothing in the windows, no signs inside and nothing said to me before I ordered. I didn’t have cash on me and was told I could use the atm a few mins walk away. I went there but there is a charge at this machine of £2. I went back and said I wasn’t happy about being charged for a withdrawal (and just like before I ordered my food they could have met me no cash only, they could have gave me a heads up about atm charge too). I was then sent to another atm further away and when I got there it was out of cash. I went back and insisted that I would pay the fee to withdraw money but they would need to deduct it from my bill. The manager was extremely annoyed and not wanting yo compromise. There were several other customers they didn’t know about the cash only policy too. It was only because they heard the rude and aggressive manager argue with me that they realised and were scrambling to get cash together. Delicious food, horrible owner. We drove 2 hours to dine at this restaurant. The kids wanted a night out here and follow these guys on social media so we drove up. We had issues with parking as only 2 spaces outside the restaurant as everything is double yellow line, but after waiting we managed to get a spot. Megna or Mayga served us. Excellent professional and attentive service from her. She even gave us little chocolate orange favours which were really nice. Food is good. The platter for 5 is a good portion. Came with rice and kebabs, ribs, wings and lamb pieces. Plenty of rice but I would have preferred half rice and half couscous which I think they offer as an option. would have been nice try try both. It came with salad. For what we paid it was worth it. I think it was £66. Would have liked abit more meze portion with the bread but non the less it was really nice. Clean toilets, abit small but nice and clean and does the job. We went on Saturday night it wasn’t too busy. We have dined in other restaurants and felt pressured to eat quick and go, but at fes mangal Nobody was pushed or pressured out so dined comfortably. Would recommend and dine again. I like that they give you containers to take left over food away. We hate wasting food....

Food was served, rice and lamb kofte. Usually this place gave it with bread and grilled onions/peppers as part of a meal - this wasnt provided. Enquired with the server (who was excellent), and he arranged to get the remainder of the meal.

After finishing the food I asked to pay and handed over my card to be told its cash only. They didnt tell me this when I entered, a very rude lady pointed above their till to a tiny sign which says "cash only".

Overall, 5* for the server, 0* for their customer service.
