Disappointed with the Maicha Pulao – Poor Quality and Poorer Customer Service
I ordered the Maicha Pulao from Kabul Crown expecting an authentic Afghan dish with a proper lamb shank, but what I received was extremely disappointing — just a bone with a tiny amount of meat and a small additional piece. When I called to raise the issue, the lady on the phone insisted there was lamb shank in the dish because she had "double-checked" with the chef — as if I wouldn't recognise what a lamb shank looks like.
I even asked if she was joking, because the response was borderline insulting. The call was then passed to (presumably) the chef, who admitted the meat was overcooked, so they had thrown in some meat pieces instead. He said they'd make a note to compensate me next time. But frankly, after this experience, why would there be a next time?
This was my first order and it was mishandled from both a food and customer service perspective. Very...
Read moreLast Saturday, I went to Kabul Crown with my family, and it was such a lovely experience. From the warm welcome at the door to the cosy, traditional Afghan décor, everything set the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable evening.
We ordered the mixed platter and karahi, and both dishes were fantastic. The mixed platter had a perfect variety – juicy, tender kebabs, flavourful chicken, and beautifully seasoned rice. The karahi was rich, aromatic, and packed with bold spices, just the way it should be. Everything tasted fresh and authentic, with generous portions that were perfect for sharing.
The service was excellent – the staff were friendly, attentive, and happy to answer questions about the dishes. It truly felt like dining in a place where hospitality is just as important as the food.

From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by Nidhi, who was not only friendly but incredibly helpful in guiding us through the menu. We tried the murgh biryani, chapli kebab, mutton tikka, phirni, and naan—every single dish was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The biryani was aromatic and rich, the kebabs juicy and well-spiced, and the naan was soft and fresh. The phirni was the perfect sweet ending to a fantastic meal.
