NIXON COFFEE — Restaurant in England

Have to leave a brilliant review! Went in for the first time for a friends birthday gathering and wow, blown away by the amazing selection of Gluten Free cake they have. First ever GF cannoli which honestly, was delicious. Coffee is very nice, very good selection of tea, and the staff are warm and friendly. Even made a drink for me which wasn't on their menu (Iced tea, love it but they didn't have it, so they made it for me, very tasty.) GF items are covered with glass and separate from other items on their own little plates which is good cross contamination practice. Just a really nice coffee house, good atmosphere and seating. In Derby most coffee and tea places do not cater for coeliacs when it comes to coffee and cake, this is literally the first place other than the Museum and Art Gallery, which I have found. Def worth a check out if you are in the area. Also have to add the friend I was meeting, was her birthday, they brought out a little extra slice of GF cake for free for her. Visiting here today for the first time, and being welcomed so kindly and sincerely, left a warm glow inside me.

The decor is mainly wooden warmness: the chunky tables, attractively grained floors, and quirky ornament-adorned shelves all cohere to produce a lovely, natural-feeling environment, while the supremely comfortable armchairs and settees provide a great base to sit and enjoy Nixon Coffee's wares.

They have a wide range of teas, an extensive coffee menu, and tempting alcohol and cocktail choices to provide something for everyone.

I didn't eat during this visit but: THE CAKES!!!! I like big cakes and I cannot lie 😃 and, had I been in the market for a slice of sweet, spongy goodness, I'd have been spoiled for choice as the array of different cakes was vast and mouthwatering.

This truly is a wonderful place to visit, whether alone, with friends, with your laptop, your Ideas Book or Journal, or just a good reading book.

My New Favourite Coffee Spot in Derby – Nixon Coffee

I don’t say this lightly, but the coffee at Nixon is the best I’ve had in a long time – and definitely the best in Derby. From the very first sip, it was clear how much care had gone into it: perfect microfoam, spot-on temperature, and beans that delivered a deep, rich flavour without any bitterness. Mitchell (who served me) was incredibly authentic and welcoming, which added to the whole experience.

The environment inside Nixon is equally impressive – stylish, relaxed, and a genuinely great place to spend time. Whether you’re popping in for a quick cup or planning to stay a while, it just works.
