I haven’t ever written a bad review or complained at a restaurant before, but due to the completely unprofessional and to be honest really embarrassing way the manager handled our very justified complaint, I thought I should share our experience.
We visited La Feria Harrogate recently and unfortunately left very disappointed. To begin with, we ordered bread as a starter, but it was completely stale. When we politely raised this with the manager while sharing our overall concerns about the meal, his response was surprisingly unprofessional. Instead of apologising, he blamed the quality of the bread on it being a bank holiday Monday - which didn’t feel like an appropriate explanation for the prices we were paying.
For the mains (as asked by our server) my fiancé and sister-in-law ordered a salad which was listed under the “Main Courses” section. To be clear, when we ordered we were asked what tapas we wanted to start and then what would we like for our mains. This was completely misleading.
What arrived, was just 4 small slices of tomato with a few pieces of red onion and pomegranate on top. We would have happily ordered a proper main dish for my fiancé and sister in law if we had known this was classed as a side.
My brother-in-law and I both ordered the half rotisserie chicken, which unfortunately lacked flavour and was watery. To make matters worse, his portion was served with a piece of greaseproof baking paper still attached to the skin - clearly not rotisserie chicken.
We had high hopes for this restaurant but left feeling completely let down. Between the poor-quality food, misleading menu descriptions and worst of all a manager who treated us with hostility instead of hospitality, this was not the experience we were expecting.
Sadly, we wouldn’t return or recommend. There are far better places to eat in Harrogate where customers are treated with respect and served...
Read moreIt was ok. The food was a little meh tbh. I think perhaps the tomato salad I ordered was tasteless because the beef tomatoes were out of season, however I don't understand why our chicken was bland as that doesn't really have an optimum season. Our chips were pretty cold, however that may have been exacerbated by our table being very near the entrance door and directly in path to and from the kitchen so lots of people traffic. The alleged background music was so loud it was actually painful and made it incredibly difficult to hold a conversation with your co diners. It also made me feel very awkward asking the waiter to repeat himself frequently as I couldn't hear him properly. I also found the dark mood lightning very poor so I had to use my mobile phone torch to help illuminate the menu. It was such a shame as my friend and I were really looking for a special experience, and a taste of home for my companion sadly this was not to be. Perhaps nandos despite being Portuguese would have given the burst of flavour we hoped for at a more realistic price la feria was quite pricey for bland meh food. I'm so sorry I wish I could say it was fab-u-lous but I'd be lying. Perhaps it was just...
Read moreOn a nice warm sunny evening whilst we would have waited for a better table we were seated in the back which was really dark and had no atmosphere. Felt like it was the worst place to be. 3 of us had the half chicken which had no flavour at all and came in a bowl that had what looked like water at the bottom. Quite tasteless! What spilt it more was the Spanish Waiter we had who was not very non committal and unpleasant in fact I would say he was rude and non engaging aside it was if as he just couldn't be bothered serving us 4 guys. We asked for water 3 times before we had to go up and ask a 4th time and then no apologies and he just plonked the water and glasses down. That was when we called him over to tell him how rude and ignorant he was and his attitude! He did apologies and walked off and then a lady waiter came to tell us she'd be our waitress however it was too late although she was very nice and apologetic we would never go there again. Shame because I'm sure if we were not 4 lads I think we'd have been served differently! We usually enjoy our monthly gastronomy at various restaurants around Harrogate. This one wasn't...
