When we arrived we were promptly seated, the waiter came to take our order and then went. We didn’t see him again for half hour because they all went out to play Holi! We hadn’t even had our jug of water we asked for! Within this time another family came and couldn’t find anyone to even be seated.. I’m actually surprised they even stayed! Eventually after they played Holi I asked how long the food would be as the kids were hungry I even suggested we leave if it’s going to be long the guy said it’s nearly done we got delayed because we were playing holi! He came back with the bhujiya which were raw inside so had to be sent back. I had holi powder on my plate as all the waiters were walking around with coloured powder all over them! Eventually the food came out and it was overly spicy! The people on the 2 tables near us were also complaining about the service and food being overly spicy. My kids had to just eat the paratha’s which were tiny and thin definitely not worth £2! The chilli paneer was full of green peppers and onions literally had to look for the paneer pieces! I asked to speak to the manager and they were all hiding behind a wall (honestly so weird)! Eventually 3 of them came out after my cousin asked why are you hiding lol. They said the manager wasn’t available. One guy (he may have been the chef) was getting a bit rude and said that’s how we make food we’re khativari and we got delayed because we have guest from India! We told them if that’s the case shut the restaurant and play holi with your guest you can’t do both! We went to pay at the front and a lady gave me the bill. She hadn’t taken off the dish that we hadn’t even eaten and complained about it being too spicy so I asked her to remove it from the bill! She then got annoyed and said forget it the foods on me because it’s holi! I didn’t want her charity but seriously I’ve never been to a more ridiculous restaurant in my life! I had to get my kids McDonalds on the way home as they were still hungry! I would give this place 0 stars if I could! It was my first time here & definitely the last! I wish I took photos but my son was watching YouTube on my phone as the wait was just too long!
Edit: as for your reply are you kidding me!? This reply just proves how rude management is & why would I lie!? Also how are you defending the fact that it’s ok to leave customers waiting for ages whilst you’ve gone out to play Holi? Close the restaurant if that’s what you wanted to do you can’t do both! I don’t care if the colour was organic or not the fact that it was on my plate from a waiters clothing is not hygienic! As for rectifying the food.. even the table behind us was complaining about the spice level even after you replaced their first order so clearly you didn’t rectify anything! The only thing you rectified was the uncooked bhujiyas which is quiet basic, they shouldn’t have been raw in...
Read moreI WOULD NOT GIVE ANY STARTS IF COULD POST WITHOUT ONE! This would be my first negative comment on any restaurant and the reason for this is I felt I had to so that the experience I had last night does not repeat.
My Partner wanted to eat a thali so we thought we could try Mohanthal as we had to be somewhere for a meeting. I had had my dinner before we left home as I am not a thali person. As we entered we had to wait for about 10 mins before even receiving an acknowledgement. The Waitress was right infront of us bit completely ignored and started chatting with a customer sitting on one of the tables. When we were eventually told to seat she just left us so my partner helped himself with the menu from another table and kept waiting for the waitress to come and take the order. When ordering He asked questions and eventually placed the order for his thali. The Waitress asked me what I wanted and I said I am fine I do am not eating. She than says you cannot share thalis and I responded saying I AM NOT EATING! She than went on saying you know we have cameras where we can see if you share the thali and at this point I lost my temper and repeated exactly what I said. I am sure people do such things but surely you tell them once u see them sharing and not paying rather than keep repeating and accusing one of wrong doing before even knowing if it is gonna happen! I would have left the place if it wasn't to do with my Partner as he has medical condition and he had to eat before I dropped him off to his meeting so had to seat patiently! The service is crap as he had to wait a long time to get his totlis and rice ... My advice to the owner is please train your staff on how to speak with their customers and they have no right to accuse anyone without having any evidence! I am definitely NEVER going to put my foot step through those doors again where I felt so insulted! Good luck with your business and service and I really hope this does not repeat with any other customer at...
Read moreThought i would try this place for the first time and thought it would a good idea to come for mothers day, as treat for my wife and mother in law. So I booked about 2 weeks in advance. We arrived on time and asked by several people if they could help me. I told each one that I had a booking. Finally one of them understood and offered to seat us and asked where we would prefer. I asked if we could sit away from the door as it was was quite windy that day. My mother in law is elderly and already had a cold. We were promptly sat. There was already a large table sat next to us who were almost finished. It took a while for someone to take our order. Me and my sons ordered the thali, my wife and mother in law ordered some paani puri and aloo parotha. The paani Puris and thalis were served fairly quickly. But the aloo parotha was taking a while. This meant my wife and mother in law were basically watching us eating waiting for their food. When we queried the aloo parotha the server didn't know anything about it and said he would go and check and didn't come back. We then asked the girl who took our order. She was quite abrupt and said she would go and get it! By the time it came me and my sons had pretty much eaten our meal. My wife had to the ask for the aloo parotha to be packed to take away. When we got home my wife tried the parotha and found it was too spicy for her, even though we had asked for to be mild.
Whilst in general the food was really tasty and fresh. The service let the place down. There were big parties on other tables so not sure if they simply couldnt cope. But nevertheless it was unacceptable. Totally ruined our mothers day meal.
Can't say I will be coming again....
