Went early evening, was excited to visit and try the place out as it was somewhere new.

There was a group of 4 of us and it was to celebrate a belated birthday. First when we got there we were all individually looked up and down before being allowed in, the bouncer tutted and even muttered something under his breath when ‘approving’ one of us.

We walked in (through the side door hadn’t even made it actually inside yet) and the owner, Matt, was there. He tried to turn us away due to one of us having a wine gift bag. We explained it was a birthday and a gift and he snatched it from us saying he’d put it in the cloakroom and that we were ‘fools’ for assuming we could bring it in.

Awkwardly we went inside. The inside was almost pitch black with only the glow from the bar and the luminous ‘Monty’s’ sign. The music was so loud it was impossible to hear yourself think let alone have a conversation.

We got to the bar, again empty no one there. Ordered x2 Brambles, vodka soda & a beer which took 25 minutes to receive the drinks.

Matt appeared behind the bar at multiple points shouting at the bar staff and giving them a hard time, it was uncomfortable to watch and I felt really bad for them.

They forgot the beer and we were accused of lying when we said it was missing. Thankfully had the receipt from payment so showed them we ordered / paid.

Once receiving the drinks we decided to go outside hoping it would be quieter / more chilled. There were loads of empty table / chairs so we sat on sofas by a big projector. Within 5 minutes Matt appeared and told us we weren’t allowed to sit there and had to move, we moved to another seat, we were told again to move, this happened 3 times within the space of 10 / 15 minutes.

We ended up awkwardly standing somewhere in the middle surrounded by empty spaces to sit / be more comfortable.

We were made to feel so unwelcome we didn’t even finish the drinks.

When trying to get the gift bag previously checked into the cloaks back we were told repeatedly by bounders the cloakroom wasn’t open to guests yet so there wouldn’t be anything of ours in there. We had to wait around until we saw Matt again to ask for access to retrieve it and was made out as though we were severely inconveniencing them by doing so.

The whole experience was just really unpleasant and I've never been made to feel so unwelcome...

I’m extremely disappointed with our experience at Monty’s in Marlow. We had booked two tables for a 25th birthday celebration and paid a £500 deposit well in advance. Despite everything being arranged properly, things went downhill the moment we arrived. The boys in our group arrived just 10 minutes before the girls, and to our surprise, they were immediately refused entry at the door. We were told the reason was that there were “too many of them,” even though it was only six lads and this had been made clear when we booked. When the rest of us arrived moments later, we politely explained that the boys would leave if necessary and asked if at least the girls could enter. We were still refused entry without a reasonable explanation. What made the situation even worse was the unprofessional attitude of the staff. Instead of handling the situation respectfully, they laughed and made unnecessary and bragging how they own 13 nightclubs. This kind of behaviour towards paying customers especially those who have already put down a significant deposit is completely unacceptable. We approached the venue respectfully and simply wanted to celebrate our sister’s birthday, but instead we were met with rudeness, arrogance, and a total lack of customer care. It was an incredibly disappointing experience, and we would not recommend Monty’s to anyone looking for a welcoming or professional establishment.

And the person that handles the booking definitely needs to sack in because we stated everything in the booking she accepted the booking and then for that to happen That was all down to the whole Monty’s team.

If you want to be threatened with violence by the people who work here, you have found the right place. Towards the end of Friday evening my girlfriend and I were ask to finish our drinks. So we did exactly that as it was coming towards the end of the evening. Despite the fact that our drinks were now finished and we were literally about to leave, this tall "intimidating" bouncer walks over to us and interrupts us mid conversation, pointing is finger at me saying " I am not going to ask you again, or I will drag you out" I then challenged this man to say "what are you on about", there are about 20 people behind you and we are on our way out, why not start with people you have actually got drinks still to be finished. I then made my way out of the premises only to be followed by this man. We felt intimidated and threatened. I then made it evidently clear that I am now on a public walkway and say " I am now out"" He still continued to threaten me and make me feel hat if I did no leave the area altogether that "we will see what happens" this put a huge concern in our minds and thought that why is this man being so aggressive to us. I urge the owner of this place to review the CCTV footage and make some drastic changes as people like this will ruin your business. As we and all of our friends have been informed of this incident and have chosen to never return here as we love Marlow but sadly this is a stain on the wide options one would have to choose from.
