This is an absolute gem of a place to relax and eat. I arrived here this morning after cycling from Penzance to view the wonderful harbour and was looking to find somewhere for breakfast. As I was cycling back towards Penzance this literally smacked me in the face by the side of the harbour. I arrived with my fold up Brompton bike, found myself a table tucked away downstairs where there was plenty of space for the folded bike. I was dripping wet from the rain, but no one made an issue of it. Table service was excellent and I ordered the small Cornish breakfast. Now as a cyclist, hiker and keen traveller, I’ve had a lot of cooked breakfasts both good and not so good. This was exceptional. It came to the table fresh, cooked to perfection and piping hot. And boy oh boy did it taste good. I don’t think I’ve had better. This is a dog friendly place. Which always gets a thumbs up from me and I think you can always judge these smaller establishments by the toilet facilities, and this was spotless. I cannot rate this place highly enough. If I could give it 10 stars I would. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your wonderful deli and cafe. Today is my birthday and I couldn’t have started it any better. I can absolutely recommend this place for quality, service and atmosphere. What an absolute Cornish diamond!!!

Not good enough for the price, but some commendable things. The food is expensive and portions are smaller than average. This is ok sometimes if it is excellent. Sadly the experience was a little mixed. The staff are lovely and friendly. Super professional. The drinks are very expensive (£7 for beer, bottle not draught). Some food was good, with most cooked very well. The batter on my fritto misto was delicate, chips were on point, chicken supreme was moist. The tartare sauce could be bottled and sold, seriously. However most of what I ate was underwhelming in flavour. The Beef cheek arancini - honestly if you closed your eyes you'd have no idea what you were eating. It had such a delicate flavour you couldn't really detect it. The chips and fish were cooked on point but bland and under seasoned. For a meal for 2 for near £100 you'd expect to be struck by flavours. We weren't really, and having tried twice, won't be returning for an evening meal. The takeaway menu looks great and is cheaper. Maybe try that. But for a restaurant to charge the same as some of those in the Michelin guide, and not season food enough, bit of an issue for me. Given a generous 4 stars because the staff were lovely and some things were good.

Breakfast with a view in Mousehole! • First morning waking up in the stunning harbour of Mousehole. Contrary to the forecast, we had blue skies, so the harbour was it idyllic. We had breakfast at the deli on the front, overlooking the bay! Delicious fresh smashed avo with a perfectly cooked poached egg, seasoned nicely. The local bread and butter made for incredible toast, both for the poached eggs, and the fry-up. The Cornish Breakfast was exactly what I needed! I'm always a fan of a fry-up and this Cornish twist on a classic hit the spot! Washed down with some freshly squeezed juice and a coffee! • Cornish Breakfast - bacon, sausage, egg, black pudding, hogs pudding, tomato, mushroom, toast • Avo on toast - Smashed avocado on toast with a poached eggs and salad Great staff, great view, great food!

Last day of what was a perfect holiday. We’d hesitated after reading several negative reviews but we’d had a good roast here a couple of years ago, so booked a table. We had the first sitting of the evening and were greeted by a very bubbly waitress. We went for a glass of wine each, with 2 small plates for starters. The poor man’s scampi was lovely, the pork belly tasted nice but was barely warm. The waitress encouraged us to have the turbot and told us she believed there were 2 left, so we both chose it. We then watched her tell the table of 3 and the table of 6 walk-ins that turbot was an option. We love fish and we’d had some excellent fish all week; 2 Fore Street and 2 incredible meals at Mackerel Sky in Newlyn (unbelievably good). However my turbot was tasteless and slimy. The skin both top and bottom was slippery like it had been boiled. It made me feel nauseous so we spoke to the waitress. I opted for ribeye as a replacement as it was the same price. My partner ate his turbot but did say it was tasteless (he just wanted to leave). My ribeye was like no steak I’d ever tasted. I chose medium, it came swimming in a thick salty gravy (whisky and mushroom sauce I think) that was incredibly salty. It was covered with leaves. I’ve never seen a steak presented like it. The steak tasted like braised beef. I’m sure the meat was reasonable quality but the cooking of it was terrible. I cut it up and we ate it between us. Incidentally my partner had finished his meal before my ribeye arrived. The waitress came over and asked how it was and I told her it was incredibly salty. She said sorry I’ll feedback to the chef. That was it!! I was thirsty all night, it was so over salted. There was not even any recompense for the poor food. We were given a bill of approx £110 for the worst meal of the week. We left agreeing we will never set foot in...

Me & my daughter on boxing day 2pm. Arrived it was extremely busy but got a table in the cafe which was loaded with dirty plates cups cutlery glasses etc. Waited patiently for it to be cleared as i could see they were busy, after 20 minutes, table wasn't even wiped down,. I said to my daughter they probably haven't got enough staff as it seems to be how things are in a lot of places now. Not a lot of light bites left so my daughter had the fish finger sandwich in a brioche bun ; and a portion of skin on chips. I had the squash soup I was told it came with bread which soup usually does & a portion of skin on chips. Bottle of table water for drinks as we were thirsty. Food was served by an older chap from the kitchen who basicly just put it on the table with no cutlery or serviettes, I asked where the bread was with the soup?. He said it doesn't come with bread, I said I was told that it did?, i could hear a big discussion going on in the kitchen about the bread..he then appeared with the two VERY SMALL portions of NO skin on chips which were also over cooked/fried. & a small thin slice of dried out bread very crunchy, we had to ask for serviettes & I was given no fork to eat my chips with. we weren't asked about sauces condiments etc, Fish coujons in the bun had a lot of bones. Soup was tasty but served in a very large plate/bowl with probably around 400ml of soup in it that looked ridiculous lol. The young Red haired waitress was very kind & helpful we could see she was pushed to the limit under pressure. THE BILL...with 10% service charge. ( what service) 1 soup . 1 fish finger sandwich. 2 chips.. All with dreadful service & presentation. Thirty one pounds!!.. that is taking the piss!! We won't...
