Well... my girlfriend took some take away from nippon inn. It was kara age, salmon maki sushi, udon soup, pork gyoza, salmon sashimi and pan seared scallops. I am going to start with the good one. Kara age was really nice. Chicken was juicy and beautiful crust on the outside. Pan seared scallops were little below average but acceptable. However sushi was disgusting. Seaweed itself was so rubbery i had to spit it out after 1 minute chewing. Salmon sashimi was really bad too. No where near sashimi grade fish. And on the top of it salmon was cut the wrong way, which gave the salmon little toughness to it. And the worst was soup. For some reason it was very very sweet. The good thing is that they gave us noodles, veg tempura and soup separetly. However tempura was really awfull as well. Not enough tempura batter just on half of carrot, and not salted at all. Well we spend around 35 pounds and enjoyed only kara age. Not a good deal for me. And we are definetly never...
Read moreThis is one of the more difficult reviews I've ever written, as different aspects were very different, and I was torn between giving three and four stars. Let me pre-empt the question on food by saying that the food was delicious, the staff were generally friendly, and most of the experience was great!
So what could possibly justify taking off two stars? The drinks service, amazingly. I ordered a ramune soda - a traditional Japanese drink where the fun is basically in opening it. It has a marble in it sealing it, and the entire fun of the drink is opening it, which can be an acquired skill.
I felt like a kid being told not to believe in Santa Claus - my ramune arrived already opened and with a straw in it!
You might not agree that this is worthy of two stars off, but it took so much fun out of the night out that, while it seems a bit harsh to my adult self, my inner child wanted to give them one star. Given the food was excellent, three stars seems a fair...
Read moreWe were looking for a sushi restaurant around New Milton's area and found this one online, after reading good reviews we thought - sounds great! - so we head down to Bournemouth area to have dinner! When arriving unfortunately the experience was quite disappointing The wooden table was sticky and smelly The toilet is very old, discoloured and creepy We were served in what resembles to a fruit bowl.... We tried the nigiri selection and the chef selection - after this, we gave up ordering food, as the quality was one of the worst we've ever tried The rice was too much and falling apart as the pieces were not properly assembled Dried, tasteless.. The tuna mayo pieces were awful I'm giving 2 stars as: The red raw tuna fish was not bad The waitress young lady was friendly Won't definitely repeat - and if you really appreciate good sushi avoid this place Good sushi isn't cheap so actually you will get what you've paid...
