I visited this restaurant with my family recently. The food was genuinely good, but the service experience was extremely disappointing and left us feeling unwelcome.
While the waitress was warm, smiling, and attentive with other customers, her attitude toward us was cold and dismissive from the start. The restaurant was not busy either (2 more tables including us was occupied) to say she was stressed. She made no effort to explain the menu or recommend dishes, and when we asked for a room-temperature drink for our child, she simply said they only have chilled ones. She even pointed at the fridge and asked us to get drinks ourselves — yet we saw her bring them to other tables with glasses and courtesy.
When we finished eating, there were no other customers, yet she ignored us until we called her for the bill. No “thank you,” no smile, no goodbye — while other customers were sent off warmly and asked to “come again.”
It’s painful to say this, but as someone of Indian origin living in the UK, it genuinely felt like we were treated differently because of who we are. The irony is, she seemed to be from the same background as us and that could be the reason for such cold treatment.
I’ve never written a review like this before, but I wouldn’t want others from my community to go through the same. The food was good, but respect and fairness matter more — and this restaurant failed badly on that font. I am not visiting this place again or would suggest anyone...
Read moreSimSim is a hidden gem that offers an incredible dining experience. From the moment we walked in, the owner's warm hospitality made us feel right at home. He even treated us to a refreshing lemon mint smoothie, setting the tone for an unforgettable meal.
The food at SimSim is nothing short of amazing. The Mussakhan wrap was authentically delicious, with a perfect blend of flavors that transported us to the Palestine. The falafel was crispy and fresh on the outside and fluffy on the inside, bursting with delightful spices.
A standout dish was the lahm baajeen with cheese Manaaesh. The thin, crispy bread topped with flavorful minced lamb and melted cheese was a true revelation.
What sets SimSim apart is the cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The friendly staff and inviting ambiance create a sense of comfort and familiarity.
In conclusion, SimSim is a must-visit for anyone seeking authentic Middle Eastern cuisine in Bournemouth. With exceptional food, friendly service, and a homey feel, it's a hidden gem that leaves a...
Read moreThis is my favourite restaurant! The quality of the food and flavours are incredible and they serve some of the best food I've ever eaten regardless of price. 2 can eat for around £27 (2 mains, 1 side, complimentary basket of flatbreads, and a pot of tea).
I recommend the shakshukas (tomato based stew topped with baked eggs), falafals, the ejjeh (Palestinian omelet), and manakeesh (Mediterranean style pizzas). There are also off-menu specials if you ask. All are cooked to perfection!
All of the dough for the pitas, pizzas and wraps is made fresh daily by the chefs and are delicious! So soft and tasty.
Have a seat and the chefs will come to your table to take your order.
I live about 25 miles away and make sure to visit Simsim every couple of months. Each meal is...
