NOT DISABLED FRIENDLY MANAGER TELLS DISABLED CUSTOMERS: "JUST STANDING ONLY"
Website of pub tells you to call and book to watch sport and highlights accessible access as a reason to book. Called them to book a table for a disabled person, told they don't take bookings when there's rugby on tv, even for disabled customers. Opposite of what their website is saying and against Brains and Marstons policy too.
Update 30/01/24:
Following Mark's reply, he might want to consider the following.
Friday 2nd February 2024 isn't a matchday in Cardiff. Wales are playing on Saturday 3rd.
The pub's website encourages customers to book ahead so the conflict is really between the pub staff and the company that owns it.
Ensuring equality is about making reasonable adjustments to ensure that people with protected characteristics aren't unfairly disadvantaged. It's definitely not about excluding those people to make a few extra quid or avoisld a little effort when you're busy.
I have been to Cardiff and the Old Arcade on matchdays many times, Likely from well before the current staff worked there. Other pubs with better customer service are available. I already phoned to find out you don't care about disabled customers, doesn't seem like there is any point in repeating a poor experience. Marstons have my contact details anyway from when I made a formal complaint so if they follow their own policy, they will be in touch.
Mark, when they do get in touch I will recommed some training in equalities and sensitivity for you. In the meantime, you might want to read this...

Read moreIt's so good to see that somethings haven't changed in my dear old Cardiff. Whilst my visit to the City and seen so many changes to to the Old City I made my way to Cardiff Market and then I saw a site for old eyes..... The Old Arcade. Cautiously approaching the entrance I opened the door to see that at last some things have not changed in Cardiff. The Old Arcade was still a proper BrAIns drinkers pub. I order a Pint of BrAIns Best Bitter and when I took the first sip .... Ahhhr it was like nectar. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. The atmosphere in the bar was like a traditional old BrAIns. No jukeboxes blaring out music. The only modern day technology I didn't take to there where Tv's all over the place showing different channels without any sound? The point of that? I don't know. Otherwise, a great BrAIns...
