Pleasantly weird. 61 years on Earth buying pizza I was a fish out of water. Each pie wasn't cut for sharing, trading or even cut! Each pizza would/could serve 0.75 of an adult. Ok I'm game I'll eat it like a steak. The pizzas were advertised weird; I consider myself literate and affluent in multiple languages but it just appeared like it was in Welsh. Maybe I'm not a chef but the fancy ingredients just left me perplexed.
The chilli cheese balls were nice but unless my daughter hadn't dined before and pointed them out I wouldn't have ordered them.
Drawing stuff for kids helped.
While we were there many people came to the door saw the pricing and left, At that moment the restaurant was 96% empty. The contractual 12% tip has been stated by management on the menu in small print. Apparently it can be removed. This places your clients in an awkward place. It is a fraudulent practice called "bait & switch". Your prices are already scaring people away just raise your prices 10% and be done with it. I would have happily tipped 7% on the 10%, but I follow US etiquette.
I respect any business for asking a price to meet costs & labour, supply & demand, offer & acceptance. 40 years in business and the reviews and further the reply to the reviews leaves me scratching my head.
On the plus side we expect a bill at a pizza house for 6 people to reach £100. While the menus and food were 'different' for the norm. I liked it. I recommend it.
The staff weren't in your face, oddly they were there but weren't seen when needed. There is a midline.
The atmosphere was ok. I'd have liked to been indoors. My family like that tea garden thing which was available so I stared...
Read moreIn Cardiff for work, the hotel reception recommended Pizza Pilgrims. We’re from Edinburgh, where a new Pizza Pilgrims recently opened. So, we decided to give it a try.
From the start, the person who showed us to our seat seemed indifferent to whether we stayed or not. We sat inside and were seated. My seat wasn’t comfortable so I asked to move. This seemed like a hassle, but eventually we were moved to a lovely table for two—right next to the cleaning station, which was quite romantic 😂
The waitress took our order, when the food arrived I asked if I could get some olive oil on the side because I didn’t like the chilli oil on the table. Another waiter brought the olive oil over, but it wasn’t olive oil at all. It had no taste whatsoever—it was just plain vegetable oil.
I asked for extra Italian cured ham on my pizza, I counted four strategically placed scraps that were supposed to convince me this was an extra topping. Wow!
We mentioned the oil to the server, wanting to know if it was actually olive oil and if she could find out. First, she said it was probably just an olive oil that didn’t have much flavour, exact words. I had no response to this. An olive oil with no taste in an authentic Italian restaurant, Seriously? She didn’t enquire about this as we requested.
To top it off we never received water for our table and the service and food wasn’t good. Not much toppings and my wife had to hunt down the basil on her margarita even though she asked for extra! If you’re looking for a pizza with an authentic Italian taste, don’t book a table at...
Read moreI deliberated actually leaving this review & am quite shocked to see how many positive reviews were on google. Issues we faced last night: service and overall experience very poor. It was completely at odds with the other reviews i can see, but we weren’t asked to leave a review. So I wonder if the staff knowingly did not put in the effort with us & selectively request reviews. The front of house waitress/lady at the door was standoffish and borderline hostile to the point I felt uncomfortable in her presence. She half walked us over to the table and when my partner thanked her, she completely blanked him. We actually had brought our 10 year old daughter who particularly wanted to eat in the table shaped like a boat. We requested this when we booked. In every restaurant I have ever eaten at, it is possible to request particular tables. Logistically it is not difficult for staff, but they were unable to accommodate us. If the rest of the experience had been ok I probably wouldn’t have mentioned this. The waitress who took our order was on her phone during the service not giving her job due attention. My absolute pet hate is food arriving before drinks. This happened. We had to actively flag a waitress down to find out where our drinks were. It made me feel very rushed and unable to enjoy. - Overall a very poor experience and the lack of care and attention from the staff really impacted our ability to...
