Chai Street Cardiff bay would for sure catch your attention when you are passing by the lanes in Cardiff bay! Reasons the flashy decor, Colourful theme and Indian menu - they do serve some great Tea - Indian Version Decor - 4/5 Loved the flashy bright vibrant decor this place has. Its converted to a well lit place that seems like a  Dhabha - with open trucks then at the entrance we have a bar at the entrance. and then the seating options are quite comfortable too The place has bollywood theme to it and has some old posters of Sunildutt and other bollywood actors movie posters . They play some good bollywood numbers that adds up to the theme Food -4/5- we choose to try the vegetarian biryani and Chicken handi biryani The biryanis were served along with curd raitha papad and some pickle The mix veg pickle did not go well with the biryani though The curd raitha is great again. Then comes the main show stealer biryani The vegetarian version is a mix of all veggies paired with some delectable spices like cardamom , dalchini and the rice used to cook is basmati the rice is really aromatic and tasted good Then comes the chicken biryani the meat is cooked well and has loads of simple spices. then rice is a bit over cooked but liked it as it tasted great. WE tried some drinks on the menu and they are pretty descent The bill came up to 25 pounds of two of us with drinks Service -4/5 The staff in here are dutiful and polite they make sure they do the needful and are attentive too VFM - 4/5 Keeping in mind the location , the taste of food and service this place deserves a big round of applause The food options are quite good. Will come back soon to try out their other delicacies.

I recently dined at a restaurant that left me with mixed feelings. The ambiance was inviting and comfortable, creating a pleasant atmosphere for a meal. The spice level of the food was just right, catering to various tastes, and the availability of a student discount was a thoughtful touch, making it affordable for many. What impressed me the most was the excellent customer engagement. The staff was attentive and made sure patrons felt valued throughout their dining experience. However, one aspect that fell short was the format of the menu. It lacked creativity and failed to capture the essence of the restaurant’s offerings, leaving much to be desired in terms of presentation and excitement. Looking ahead, I hope to see the restaurant venture into more innovative culinary territories, particularly by introducing Pan-Asian fusion dishes. This addition could elevate their menu and provide patrons with a unique dining experience, further establishing the restaurant as a go-to destination for food enthusiasts. Overall, the restaurant offered a good dining experience with room for improvement. With a bit of menu reimagining and continued excellent customer service, it has the potential to become a standout culinary destination in the future.

We visited for lunch on Saturday which we didn't realise was a rugby match day. We'd looked up the menu a few days before when booking and I'd already decided what I was going to have, I imagine a lot of people do this nowadays. However when we were given the menu it was pretty much halved because it was game day! We didn't expected that, and what I'd chosen when looking online was no longer on the menu and to top it off all the prices had been inflated by at least £1 per dish! from the online menu! Food was ok, I had the vegan Thali it was nice but nothing to rave about. The atmosphere was very noisy (understandable I guess) but we felt rushed to order and then was ignored once the place had quietened down (presumable people making their way to the stadium) and had to chase to get the bill and we'd be out of drinks for a while. The bill came and again felt rush again as he came over with the card machine and stood waiting. Overall I wouldn't visit again but one pro is normal menu a lot of vegan options. Shame they didn't give a reason to return.

Came during Monday lunchtime as they advertised lunch menu for 6.95 on a billboard outside and it seemed a good deal so we came in.

We ordered dishes that were specified on the billboard outside (and also found on the lunch section of the menu) but we were charged for the full price (and full price on our drinks). So in all a sizeable amount more than we intended.

This was very misleading as there were no lunch menus put out on the tables so we assumed the lunch menu section on the main menu would mean lunch....but it didn't. We felt this was exceptionally poor service to not being offered the lunch menu considering we were there at...lunch.

I ordered the noodles, and found that they had almost no veg in them in, was mostly just plain carbs. The spices on them were nice though but was disappointed as the description made it sound like I'd at least be getting some of my five a day.

The main gripe is that they didn't offer the lunch menu that we ordered and was advertised outside. Considering we were there at 12pm, it shouldn't be on us to check that our lunch menu plates would be lunch. The staff should have at least offered. Overall I felt very ripped off.

This is a shame as we love love love the mattencherry restaurant in Canton and hoped for a similar quality /...
