As the only brown woman in the area this hotel left me feeling humiliated, unwelcome and extremely discriminated against.

I had the hotel manager refer to my friend and I as “your kind” and also described me as intimidating when he had absolutely no justification for this apart from his subconscious or pretty blatant racism.

I booked a king size room for one, however invited my cousin around at last minute. The hotel manager knocked on my door at 1am to ask who was in the room to which I informed him that it was just my cousin and I. I felt no need to lie as I wasn’t aware I was breaking any rules. This was a perfect opportunity for him to inform me that he was not allowed upstairs due to covid regulations however he decided not to do this. He instead asked me if it was okay if he checked the room, to which I of course complied. This was our only encounter on the matter however the next morning I was informed that he had called the police on me for inviting this guest into my room.

I asked why he felt the need to go to such extremes and why he did not just inform me of the issue when he came to my door as if he would of I would of immediately complied and apologised, as I’ve been raised to be polite and caring towards people however this opportunity was taken away from me.

I do not appreciate being referred to as intimidating nor “your kind” and this encounter has left me feeling so disappointed and completely unwelcome.

I wonder if I was Caucasian would he of felt intimidated? Would he of called the police?

I was working in Helensburgh for a few days. Decided to go to the Riva for a drink last thursday around 8pm. I was sitting at a table outside minding my own business when the manager for no reasons asks me to leave. There were 3 guys that had been waiting 20 mins for a table. Because I was sitting myself he seen me as an an easy target. He had no right to ask me to leave. He said the guys had booked a table and were going to order food. I watched the guys after I was made to leave. They never ordered food. Obviously because the guys were local they got preference. The manager that night was a disgrace. Why keep them standing 20 mins if they booked. Why my table. There were other people in the place who walked off the street and hadn't booked. BAD MANAGEMENT They were allowing people in that afternoon when the Royal Bar closed at 2.30pm. Manager is incompetent. I run my own business. Who ever employs this guy should re-think...

Shockingly bad service, arrived on time to booked table, not set up and then waited 20 mins to be offered drinks which then took 20 mins to arrive. Other diners arrived and were served and on their starters before we got the drinks. We were then told we only had another 15 mins. We advised we haven't even eaten, no apology just left us and then after repeated requests eventually got meal an hour and 15 mins after arriving. The side dishes didn't arrive until after we had finished the main course which the young waitress advised wouldn't be on the bill. Very disappointing at how it has deteriorated from a few years ago. Food was ok but nothing special. Cap it all the coat hooks fell off the wall. They put it back and glared at us then when we apologised as we left, we were told it happens all the time....well fix it!! We won't be back! So many much better restaurants in Helensburgh than this...Mira Mare, Riverhill to...
