You know that the gentrification of Glasgow's Southside is accelerating when Tantrum decides to open their third shop in Shawlands (completing a triumvirate of the Westend and City Centre). It took me a while to give them a try because I always thought that Tantrum was over-hyped. I had tried them twice before (on Gordon Street) and thought the doughnuts were dry and over-priced). Well what I can say? I may have simply been unlucky in the past or the quality has improved. But whatever it is, I have turned into a fan of Tantrum Doughnuts. Have been at the Minard Road branch about a dozen times and never left disappointed. The Crème Brulé, of course, is a fan favourite and I fully agree. But the other flavours are also really good. Anything with pistachio in or on it has me immediately interested. And peanut butter with jam? Yes please!

Staff really lovely - helped me pick a donut. Wide selection to choose from. I had the millionaires donut, and sadly, it was a bit underwhelming. Really fresh and the dough was perfect. The caramel and chocolate filling was delicious... When I finally got to it. It was really just a small swirl on the top and a small blob at the edge of the donut inside, I wish it would've been filled more. A bit disappointing. However, I'd go back to try more, and some of their speciality hot drinks.

I visited for the first time today after years of always wanting to go! The actual design, decor and atmosphere of the shop is brilliant. The staff member that served me was wonderful and very kindly ground up some Paper Cut coffee beans for me in order for me to make some delicious coffee at home. The coffee and doughnuts were absolutely delightful and I am looking forward to visiting again! Added bonus that the cafe uses Mossgiel Organic milk too! Yum! Highly recommend visiting!

I bought 4 donuts today , first time in the shop , sadly they are not fresh and very dry and heavy , very very disappointing as that's all they sell so you would think they would make sure the donuts are at least fresh , I couldn't even eat any of them , they look and taste days old , what a shame as I love donuts but they need to be genuinely fresh , Lidl do excellent donuts , really light fresh and a fraction of the price of these horrible ones I bought today , please please don't sell a product your not willing to at least make fresh as you will struggle to make a good name for yourself, I could not possibly recommend you for...

The big problem with Tantrum is leaving without consuming about 6000 calories. Everything looks so tasty that 'one of each' would be the obvious order. Anyway, no matter your level of self-control expect fab fresh doughnuts, difficult choices, and lovely friendly staff. Dogs are welcome. As are vegans. Seats about 12 or so (including vegans), or you can order to take away (doughnuts and coffee, not vegans or dogs). Whether you like a classic ring, or the absolute marvel of the Crème Brulé filled doughnut (it's an airy pillow of complete decadence) you'll find something delicious...
