We booked a table a few days ago for a group of 6 on Christmas Day...we had been told it was fully booked then the guy phoned us back to say there had been a cancellation and offered us a 2pm slot for 2 hrs which in our view is an ample time to enjoy our meal without feeling pressured. We were really looking forward to eating out at this venue as we'd heard some good reviews from friends. However on entering the venue our experience completely changed.Firstly we were pressured into deciding what we wanted to drink without seeing the drinks menu. The menu system they have in place wasn't explained clearly. On our table there was evidence of the ordinary menu and also what seemed like an alternative "Festive menu" which clearly stated at the top that it ran from 7th Dec- 31st Dec..with 2 price options, the greater being £20.95 for the larger 3 course meal. The waitress came back to take our drinks order and stated that whatever we chose would come to £35.This was confusing as there was no price reflecting what she verbalised on the "Festive menu".When food was being decided upon there was a 30 second time delay between waitress and manager coming to our table. We had to point this out to the manager that in 30 seconds we hadn't quite decided yet.We asked for a few more minutes as some of our group wanted food from the ordinary menu.At this point the manager instructed us that we had the table for 2hrs.This ,in my opinion is totally unprofession. We asked at this time why the food price was £35 as there was no written evidence of it on the menu nor could we find it on the website at the time of booking. The manager disappeared and returned with a small folded menu in his hand and instructed us that it was the Christmas day menu. There was no Christmas day menu on our table at any time during our experience. To make matters worse, one of my group asked for a side of chips ,salad and black pudding fritter and was then told that this would be charged at an extra £16.We decided as a group to leave. We felt very pressured and misled by the whole experience and feel that being asked to pay £16 over and above the £35 meal ,for a side of chips salad and a black pudding friiter to be ridiculous. We would not recommend eating at an establishment where the right hand has no idea what rhr left hand is doing and where there is no clear evidence of menu pricing. All in all...a...

Would give no stars if possible. We ordered a couple of fish suppers, the server said it would be a bit of a wait so we sat and waited. We then asked to use the bathroom. This is when it went downhill. I was told by the worker the bathroom is only open for restaurant customers. Well I decided I would use the bathroom anyway, since I just spent £16 on fish and chips and the food wasn't ready. I came back from the bathroom, my partner still waiting for our food decided he may as well use the bathroom as we had a 20 minute walk back home. He was stopped and said "you can't use the toilet, only customers sitting can use it" wait what?! I asked to speak to the boss, as every waiter looked as confused and uncomfortable as I was and just said it's the boss's rule. I approached the "boss" and questioned him because frankly I have just spent money at your establishment, you've asked me to sit and wait for food however as a food and drink provider surely you need to provide toilet facilities to customers who have paid for a service or at least let them know before they purchase food. This guy shook his head and didn't have an answer, just said its policy . When you have a restaurant in shawlands where there is plenty of places to eat and drink, who are happy to let you use the bathroom if you pay for this this is absurd. He actually gave us a refund in the end instead of letting us use the bathroom which was just bizzare behaviour. Poor attitude and just generally rude. First time and last time in this place, please don't waste your time. We walked down the street and were received in our usual place, where we spent double the amount and were treated like respectful customers. I've never seen this anywhere, enjoy hogging your toilets. You sound like a fun place...

This review is for the Resturant side only. I have been coming to this place since it opened but never had an experience like this in my life. Before I continue just want to say the staff at the takeaway side are phenomenal and amazing. This review is only for the restaurant side. The male staff members attitude stank, when we arrived, wasn't happy to see us, spoke down to us, only reason I stayed and had a meal there was because my partner said I am just thinking that as I was thinking about leaving just as we sat down. Just as I put my fork down the same staff member comes running over and wants to take my plate away. Just finished pouring my tea and he sent the polite lady over with my bill. So during my meal I had to put my drink down and pay for my meal. Never happened at any other establishment in all my life. After paying my partner said to her do you want rid of us as we are still finishing our meal and the lady knew it was wrong. Other people were not treated like this in the restaurant as we waited to see how others were treated, which was clearly not the case. On leaving the restaurant my partner spoke very quietly to the male staff member and and asked who the manager was, he informed it was himself and my partner just pointed out the same points that I have put in the review. Basically he said if you not happy don't come back here. Racism is a very strong word and not to be used lightly, but on this occasion the first time ever I have experienced racial discrimination in glasgow and we both have lived here...

No service, terrible food and zero atmosphere. I was so close to walking out but didn't want to upset my partner. However she sees it as a customer I see it as a hospitality owner. £40+ for mac n cheese (might as well be cheesy pasta from lidl) 'Lobster ravioli' bought in with very little crab stick meat and NOT lobster, neither of which was nearly finished. No question as to why. Had to look for the 3 staff members standing having a gab before got served with nearly no enthusiastic service and no music even with the speakers fitted. It was either we ate the plastic starfish on the wall or the bland and most basic food an S1 student would do better...we left hastily. Strongly suggest avoiding this place and go to Catch in Giffock or ANYWHERE ELSE instead. At least the food and service delivers. Having a change of heart thought "maybe just a bad day". Nope consistency terrible on all factors and the fact the owner or manager won't even reply to negative reviews is either lazy or there is something shady going on in the background 🤔 Avoid, avoid and avoid!!

Table for two at 5.30. We parked in a nearby street with no parking restrictions. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived but got busy as the evening progressed. The surroundings were bright and airy with a nautical theme. We chose to sit in a booth and our waiters were attentive but not overbearing. I had mussels in spicy tomato broth with garlic bread. My better had the mussels in the white wine sauce. Both were nice but I definitely preferred mine. The portions were massive for a starter. For main I had the seafood linguine in tomato passata whilst my better half had the lobster ravioli. Again, the portions were great and the food was very tasty. We had also ordered onion rings as a side but we struggled to finish them as we were so full. The staff kindly gave us a doggy bag to take them away. Clean, bright surroundings, unpretentious, good tasty food, big portions and friendly and efficient staff. As Arnold S. would say, "Eating is not cheating" or something like that

I don’t get why people rave about this restaurant! The food isn’t great for the price and the atmosphere is ruined by constantly overhearing the takeaway customers and delivery riders. The staff seem keen to chase you out, even when there’s no one waiting. The sauce pot really lowers the class of the restaurant, it would be so much better to have sauce bottles and salt/pepper shakers. It really feels like Salt & Vinegar can’t decide whether it’s an expensive restaurant or a chippy that has added some tables. At the prices being charged, I’d expect better quality and atmosphere than the sit-down Blue Lagoons.
