On vacation for the week and we were killing time waiting for our travel companions. I took a few wrong turns and ended up just stopping to figure out where I was. Stopped in for lunch while I got my bearings and had the Scottish Grilled Cheese with black pudding and haggis and it was delicious and so filling. We enjoyed it so much that we made a special trip back two days later for breakfast with our traveling companions. The coffee was delightful, especially the Biscoff Latte and the food was substantial in serving size and phenomenal in taste. Our waiter Sid was attentive, patient, and so welcoming. I could not recommend this place enough. Sometimes it’s the places you don’t plan on when traveling that become your favorite part of the trip.

When the big two Southside brunch spots were rammed, we decided to give Brooklyn Cafe a shot instead. I went for the grilled cheese with ham hough and hot honey, £13.30, plus a tater tots, +£1.70. They said it was the one to go for if you’re v hungry but it wasn’t as big as expected. The slow-cooked ham was great and there was loads of cheese, but the hot honey was soaked into the bread and didn’t add much. I’d been told it would come on the side, which would’ve been better to dip in. Also, we felt a bit rushed out, which I get when it’s busy, but it did take away from the experience. Menus were a bit inconsistent too - different inside the shop window vs. at the tables. And I felt it was on the pricier side for what we got.

Stepped into this bustling cafe on a vibrant Sunday morning with my family, including our little one, and were immediately embraced by the lively atmosphere and the infectious energy of the crowd. Despite the rush, the staff remained incredibly friendly and attentive. We all savored the generous and delicious portions of food. Even amidst the Sunday morning hustle, a simple request for a glass of water was met with a delightful surprise – it arrived with a freshly cut lemon, a small gesture that truly brightened my day. With such a vibrant vibe and welcoming service, we're eagerly anticipating our next Sunday morning visit to this lively cafe.

Decent tasting food but poor service and overall not good value for money. I've been to the Brooklyn Cafe a few times but I'm certainly not a regular. The prices are much higher than average so the question is: as they justified? From a preparation and ingrediants perspective, yes. From a service perspective: no. Heres an example why... if my partner and I walk in to get seated in an empty restaurant, we would expect to have our order taken before the next couple that is seated 5 minutes later. Then, when your toast is brought out, you don't expect to eat it immediately or watch it go cold whilst waiting another 10 minutes for the main meal itself to come out. When you ask for an extra (obviously chargeable item) to complete your selected meal order, you dont expect to have to have to later remind them to cook it when they bring out your main dish without it, having forgotten. Also, having to rummage around to get the basic condiments. Finally, when two people are seated, its not good practice to clear away one person's plate whilst the other is still eating. At least ask. For two waitresses and a chef servicing two couples, I would tolerate and almost expect this for a bargain priced breakfast but when you're paying over the odds, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect better. Sorry. I'm guessing the ownership don't really care how the place is operating and it shows. If the chef(s) ever walk this...

Found this place by accident last Saturday. We were actually going somewhere else that had been recommended but I'm so glad we couldn't get in. The staff are fabulous, very patient and friendly. The food is superb with an extensive menu, which should please everyone, including vegetarian and vegan. My oldest daughter is vegan and she had the vegan stack. Glorious bread, a hash brown and a potato scone topped with vegan Scottish square sausage, vegan black pudding (both of which I loved too) and a vegan hollandaise sauce. I had fish goujons and my other daughter had macca cheese. With no prior knowledge of the cage we also booked a (small!!!) portion of buffalo cauliflower wings...... All four plates were substantial and we couldn't finish them which was a shame. BUT we'll know next time. We had 3 mugs of tea and 2 coffees and the bill was incredibly reasonable. We added a tip to the payment and the waiter told us it was far too much for the bill but the service and food was so good they truly deserved every penny We live in England but have family in Glasgow so next time we're up we'll definitely be going back. If you've never been,...

Popped in to Brooklyn Cafe yesterday morning after being enticed in by some good looking empire biscuits in the window, ended up staying for a sit down meal. The decor was lovely, very rustic and cosy, and we loved the wee squirrels all over the place! My partner ordered the big Brooklyn breakfast, and I had a buffalo chicken toastie, plus two shakes (pistachio and a freddo). The shakes were lovely, not too sweet as some other places can be. The food was absolutely out of this world, the toastie was physically heavy it had so much filling in it, but my god was it amazing. My partner thoroughly enjoyed his Brooklyn breakfast, and we were offered some homemade hot sauce to try with our food too, my partner was very impressed with this and said both were lovely. We're looking forward to coming back here already, the food was incredible, the decor was lovely and the staff were very kind and attentive. Only downside was, after we left we realised we forgot to buy our empire biscuits that we originally came in for! Hopefully they still have plenty when we get back. 5⭐️...
