I live locally and until Thursday 27th July was a regular eater in this reasonably pleasant diner . However I am sick and tired of arriving in mid afternoon (even in season now) only to be told "we are closing" (or even "closed") and the chef has gone home. Sandwich or takeaway only. OMG on Thursday I was tired and hungry after moving my accommodation, and was looking forward to a late "All day breakfast" only to face the scenario above. The time was 3:15pm. Another potential customer was being turned away too and made the observation that the opening time is until 5:30pm as per the website. Early closure is perhaps understandable in the last half hour if the weather has turned gloomy -but NOT so early as 3:15. How was "the owner" to know that I did not have 10 walking friends to join me ? I said "Good bye forever" to the senior staff lady and I mean it, I went to Harvester the other side of the pier instead. To the owner: "Mate - it's called "business". You get high and low moments. (I sure you get plenty of really busy days in the year) If you can't take the downs with ups GET OUT OF BUSINESS AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE . OR GET A JOB AND WORK FOR A LIVING. Don't be so selfish as to deprive regular customers of a dining experience and save money on staff just because you get an hour of cloudy weather !! So you saved a few quid on THursday afternoon . BUt youve now lost a customer who regularly buys a meal there 3 times a week lets say for 35 weeks of the year. At an average of £15 x 105 visits = £1575 lost by turning me away (per year) and thats just me. How about the other family? and probably many others ? because unless you can give me a VERY good reason why I should ever bother to walk to your door again - I'm never coming back and I shall certainly recommend friends never to bother either. What a selfish , short-sighted money grabbing person the owner must be. I don't feel that this sort of attitude to customers is right in a resort area and I hope you go elsewhere soon. I hope all the other people who get turned away because of early closure join me in this comment. Don't be shy. The owner needs to...
Read moreMy elderly Mother purchased 2 burgers, 2 chips and 2 cans of drink totalling £32.40 when we visited. She quoted the table number '47' which was on the beach on one of the restaurants tables, to be told she would have to come back to collect her food as they wouldnt bring it out. 10 minutes later I returned to the cafe with the reciept and asked the older lady behind the till how long order 110 would be. A male dressed in a chefs uniform who looked extremely angry and miserable said loudly to the woman 'What about order 110?'. A few minutes later the older lady returned to say that the food would be around 5 minutes. The restaurant was not busy and I was one of the only customers inside waiting. Approximately 5 minutes later the 'grumpy chef returns' and says, again pretty rudely '110'. I returned to the counter and said I was order 110 and the grumpy chef asked for my reciept. The lady who I gave my reciept to was standing right next to the grumpy chef and I informed him that I had given her the ticket. I was then proceeded to be 'quized' on what I ordered, and when I said 2 burgers, 2 chips and 2 drinks, that was apparently not good enough. The grumpy chef continued to say he needed the ticket and I further explained that I did not have it. The grumpy chef slammed my food down on the counter and said 'Well I will leave it here' before walking away abruptly. I said to the older woman that I did not appriciate the rudeness after spending over £30 on 2 burger and chips and she apologised on behalf of the grumpy chef. The burger was mediocre and the chips were over cooked and cold. I didn't bother going back after the experience that I had. I would suggest to the management that if you have rude staff with zero customer service skills, perhaps you keep them in the kitchen. Really disappointing experience as it was a nice...
Read moreMy husband and I were down from London to Bournemouth to spend christmas 2018 with the family. I am a muslim woman, wearing a black headscarf. It's always black, I don't wear any other colour. I was born in Islington, London and I am well spoken, educated, etc. Do I treat people kindly and do I smile at them? Yes and yes! I came with my husband, MIL and SIL. They all sat down whilst I took their orders. I noticed that when I first asked the white 60-something, 5 ft woman behind the counter a question, she took her time getting to me. It was a question about types of plant milk they serve. There was no one behind me or in front of me. Anyway, I overlooked that. Once I had everyone's orders, I went up to place them. I stood and I stood. It was an eternity. The churlish faced woman thought it more important to chat with her skinny tall English male friend than serve me. I thought "Is this for real?" Well, sadly, it is. I stood there, getting further humiliated, my husband looking over at me to see if I am okay, I calmly walked back to our table after being completely and utterly ignored. I don't know why we stayed. We should have walked out. I ate a chocolate cake which was very dry and flavourless. I WILL NEVER...
