Went from excitement to dismay all in the same day...
Having arrived really looking forward to the pizza, garlic bread and fat chips with a reputation for greatness, we were advised of an hours initial delay. That’s ok, food must be great... We were presented with the synonymous ‘buzzer’ that would light up the way to our meal.
An hour passed, and a waiter came by with our ticket order letting us know he’s been trying to find us as they’d been buzzing. Strange, nothing come through, and none of the four members of family have heard it?
Never mind, pizza is waiting. I’ve asked in the hope that it will be still warm given the time delay, only to be told the ovens are now off, so they hope so too. That’s not a positive remark to be fair, especially given the price we’re paying and the reputation expected.
Pizza is warm (not hot), but we’ve got two hungry children, so I’ll accept it with thanks. Regrettably the chips are no where to be seen. I’ll get some made up and sent out they say. Great, thanks. Should be ok as a short wait I think, especially as the garlic bread had gone hard from the initial wait.
Twenty minutes later and still nothing. Now, as every parent of young children will tell you, a meal can simply not be a meal without the accompanying side of chips.
It’s now time to investigate I think.
Things start to heat up when I ask, and not in a good way. What a shame!
When asking where our food is, I’m advised (without question) that the kitchen is shut? But I’ve paid for them I remark? I’m sorry the ovens are off now?
I repeat my remark in that I’ve paid for food and not received it. Their first reaction is that it’s tough.
I must admit that at this time, I’m more than a little annoyed and point out the issues occurred, only to be challenged back by a chef noting how difficult it is and unless I’ve been in the kitchen have no idea. Now, I have no doubt kitchen life is hard work, and I’m not challenging the chefs, but the operation as a whole. I’ve simply ordered goods of which they’ve agreed and implemented a process. That process has fallen down through no fault of mine, so don’t expect me to be punished by it.
After several minutes of heated discussions, the night manager walks in and simply remarks, what’s the issue and what do you want? I suppose for most people, they may just want a refund. But for me at this point (rightly or wrongly), there is a principle in that I’ve been victimised (or made to feel that way) for a situation that I am in no way to blame. I simply wanted, ordered and paid for food.
The bottom line... would I recommend? Well the food despite being not hot, was good. The service however and the treatment of a customer thereafter was diabolical, so no, I cannot bring myself to...
Read moreThe pizza was okay. It was a medium size pizza in a large box, so don't look at others with their boxes and believe that's what your going to get.
The real reason for the 1 star is the staff trying to gaslight me. 😡
I had been given a buzzer to tell me when my pizza was ready. While sat away from the counter it started beeping, flashing and vibrating. So I headed over to the counter. While doing so a lady on the table next to me got up as her buzzer went off.we got to the counter at the same time, she held her buzzer up and called out her number and as they gave her her food a table of 3 people all and buzzers started buzzing. They all did as the lady did, waving buzzers and calling numbers. Now I know that he saw me arrive at the counter at the aame time as the lady. But he still served them first. I'm a laid back person and just waited, I think they ordered first anyway.
Once everyone else had collected their food I showed my buzzer and told him my number. He told me that I must have been mistaken as so many buzzers went off close by. He knew that my buzzer was sound by mistake but choose to lie and gaslighted me instead of...
Read moreMy wife's birthday was the perfect opportunity to give The Wood Oven a try and we were most definitely not disappointed. Ordering online was a doddle and we really appreciated the £10 discount code to use with our first order.
We were contacted extremely quickly when something we ordered wasn't available and while we were disappointed that the "Crazy in Love" gingerbread man was unavailable the gingerbread "Dinosaur Wearing a Sparkly Bow Tie" and "Standard" gingerbread man more than made up for it!
The Garlic Butter Dough with Paprika were huge, delicious and very tasty while the pizzas were stunning. Nothing was skimped on and we were particularly impressed with the amount of topping. They were full of flavour and delicious. We were so full that the "Dinosaur Wearing a Sparkly Bow Tie" and Standard" gingerbread man survived to live another day (until the children got home from school!)
We have no qualms in recommending the Wood Oven and will be...
