The Tulip Lounge — Restaurant in Great Britain

Arrived at 9.45am on a Friday morning with my husband and step-daughter for a family catch-up. Fairly quiet. Seated promptly and orders taken for drinks and food which took ages to come. We had almost finished breakfast when the drinks arrived. 2 meals were with GF bread and 1 with sourdough. 1 x GF meal didn’t come for ages which was sad and we had to prompt the waitress. The meal with sourdough had 3 squares of sour dough in a line with the avocado and poached eggs on top, the GF meals were not as nicely presented and because the avocado was straight from the fridge, the poached eggs went cold very quickly. Then the back door being open added to the chill but this was breakfast and we were hungry. The back door was being continually opened by the delivery guy. Other customers were getting up to close the door and then it was opened again. This happened at least 8 times. By the time we left 1 hr later, it was extremely noisy - far too loud for me. I also thought it was expensive £50.50 for 3 breakfasts and 3 drinks. Saw the cake counter but the cakes were not appealing and lacked imagination beyond the mediocre looking carrot cake and a lemon drizzle. Staff weren’t smiling either other than a lovely young lady with long blonde hair. Been a couple of times and the food and service were excellent. However, the manager needs to work on her customer service skills and not be so rude. Me and my friend ordered the poached eggs on avocado with smoked salmon on sourdough bread. We kindly asked the waitress if the poached eggs could be reheated in the microwave for a little bit as they were cold and she politely said that’s not a problem. Not a big deal and we didn’t mind waiting. Next thing we knew the manager appeared asking what had happened. We explained the eggs were cold and were getting reheated. She rudely stated ‘well it is a cold dish due to the avocado and smoked salmon’ we explained we knew that but the eggs were cold. She again stated ‘it is a cold dish’. I mean seriously… turned us right off! I wished she never came over because it wasn’t a massive deal and we were having a nice time but she turned it into a massive deal and spoilt our visit. Visited on a Saturday mid morning and were seated fairly quickly which was a good start. The staff were friendly and took our orders quickly considering how busy it was. The interior was nicely decorated and gave a good first impression. However we did experience a few issues. Firstly we waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive after we ordered which felt excessive considering the number of staff on duty. While we understand it was a busy time the wait was longer than we expected. More concerning was that one of our dishes (the pancakes) contained a piece of plastic. While the staff responded quickly and provided a replacement, the long wait had already dampened our experience and this added to the overall frustration.
