It’s official, this is a cursed spot.
3 places closed here within 4/5 years, and from the way things are going this is soon to be the 4th.
Service, bad. Obviously the lady was having a bad day but Christ alive I wanted to cry after I left here. Psychic trauma dumping was not what I was expecting when I came in for a burger, she just looked pissed off that we were even there.
Place has not been spruced up since the wendys/ bum rongo times, dark and dingy inside with no flare or fun in sight. Glad we sat outside, but you also feel stupidly exposed to the random folk walking by.
Food is insanely mid. The pizza is the only thing worth going for. Burger was a default burger with barely melted cheese and chilli full of massive bits of pepper. This place has an obsession with cooking like a divorced dad.
Some fun hotdog flavours but execution, shocking. My friends got the chicken dogs and the two tiny bits of chicken were dwarfed by the huge rolls and weird sauces.
Food took ages to come in an empty restaurant as well, staff were getting their lunch before we got ours (which fair enough tbf but still gonnae no eat it outside wi us just making us more hungry)
Didn’t get a drink, but by the end of the meal I wanted a whole bottle of wine, some haagen daas and a sit down in a dark corner.
Overall 5/10....
Read moreAlthough the server was really nice she seemed to not know the menu at all. I had asked if the chicken was breast or thigh (I find thigh meat tastes very cheap and gristly) and she said it was breast, though thankfully she came back out and said it wasn't. We ordered a mac dog, thundersmash burger and hot haggis tots. The tots came out as fries insted of tots so we mentioned it and she was away with them by the time I realised my mac dog was a thunderdog. I can't have black pudding so thankfully my first bite was only the mac and cheese. I get the names should maybe be the other way around but staff should really know the menu better, expecially with it being as dark as it is because people may eat something they can't. The burger was also overcooked and a bit hard which was unfortunate. For now we prefer thundercat but hopefully with improvements it...
Read moreThunderdog is simply amazing, both the food and the decor. Without giving too much away as you should experience it yourself, you walk in the door and just smile. All the staff are so friendly and attentive. Great tunes but not too loud but not too quiet either. As for the food, all I can say is Tasty, Tasty, Tasty. There genuinely is something for everyone on the menu and the portions are extremely generous. I had the Mexico City deep pan pizza, but it's not like any regular deep pan you may have had, so good and the missus had a smash burger with chips. We both shared and had to get them boxed..way too good not to take home. If you find yourself in Glasgow West end you must give Thunderdog a try. And you can take your own wee dog. Also who doesn't like a glitterball, sorry, no more spoilers....
