George Mewes celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Glasgow shop opening earlier this year. It is now an established West End landmark. And deservedly so. Its Edinburgh shop opened a year or two later and is making its own mark in the east. Superbly selected and kept cheese, served by friendly, knowledgeable staff. Georges Mewes is my favourite cheesemonger between Glasgow and Edinburgh (for now)! The shop is absolutely lovely and the staff is super kind and helpful. They make you try all the different cheeses you'd like (that's always a good point). All the cheeses we tried were delicious and from great quality (thumb up for the brie with truffle and the comte cheese). We tried their bread as well and the baguette was very good. Words to not express how fantastic this shop and their staff are. Stopped in for Raclette cheese this NYE and it was some of the best Raclette cheese we have ever had, and cut perfectly by the friendly staff. Stopped back again in the new year and left with some fantastic cheese on discount.

The staff are always sure to make sure you find the best on whats available for what you are looking for and are happy to let you sample anything to help you find something you will enjoy. We definitely recommend letting the staff give you suggestions!
