Urban Roots — Restaurant in Great Britain

First time ordering and not a good experience. I ordered the curry mutton, rice and peas, half the bowl rice as expected, the other half bone. I called to question and the girl who answered said she'd send some more meat but didn't know what time, only to turn around and say the manager said no, the menu doesn't say its "not boneless" and this is the portion. This terrible boney portion. Perhaps it should say on the menu, you pay £11 for bones and ok food. I've had better, but the taste was quite good overall. The chicken stew was bland, I had to add seasoning, the jerk chicken with 2 dumplings was tasty but again, mostly bone and a very small piece. My daughter loves dumplings but didn't like these, my son did, he'll eat anything. I thought they were fine, and the festival was tasty. The salad was a mistake, take the plantain, which made the chicken stew taste better. Overall, not a good experience for a first time customer. And now a never again customer. I try to order from this place at least once a month or every 2 months, cause I'm a student and money is tight sometimes.

But honestly this is the best Caribbean takeaway in Leicester, food is outstanding always.

Today (13/04/21) I made an order of: Jerk Gravy, Bigga Juice - Fruit Punch (of course), Festival, 1 Lamb patty, Macaroni Cheese (to die for), a large jerk chicken meal w/ rice & peas, homemade coleslaw (which is literally like Popeyes in the US) and Plantain.

Whoever the chefs are they deserve a serious pat on the back, the food is amazing and it reminds me of the comfort food I have when I return back home from uni.

The staff. I believe her name was Shanay (apologies if I have spelt it wrong) but her customer service was amazing. My jerk gravy was nowhere to be located and I informed her, she drove to the restaurant and all the way back just to give it to me and on top of that a free stew chicken meal, to apologise for the inconvenience. Made my night and she was so lovely.

Just had this place for the first time. All I can say is I’m genuinely blown away at the quality of the food. Ordered Jerk Chicken, Curry Mutton, Curry Chicken and Mac & Cheese. The curry mutton is heavenly and the meat is cooked to perfection with so much flavour. Jerk Chicken falls off the bone and also full of flavour. The rest of the food was absolutely on par with the 2 dishes I’ve mentioned. You can tell there’s a lot of effort put into the cooking and it shows in the way it tastes. Very homely and satisfying!
