UPDATE: STILL my fave restaurant, PLUS New LUNCH DEAL and house-made gluten free pita. We keep on coming back for more!
This restaurant is well deserving of 5 stars. From the greeting, to the service, to the cuisine and cleanliness, we were excited to make this a return venue on our list of favorite restaraunts. SERVICE: Thoughtful wait-staff, and a pleasant greeting were offered upon entering. Quality: The meats, produce and spices were all excellent quality. The food always comes out hot, and the freshness is evident.
AMBIANCE: Excellent! Beautiful photos of famous Turkish landmarks and themed music made the experience extremely enjoyable. Dinnerware was perfectly suited to the cuisine.
FLAVORS: Having been in Turkey, I can attest that the cuisine is authentic, and was on par with the best quality restaurants that we frequented in Turkey.
PRESENTATION: Fresh, hot Bazlama flatbread is immediately served right out of the oven on a carved, wooden board, with a cunning little dish of spicy, curry-like paste as an a accompaniment.
QUALITY: The mixed grill we ordered was stunning, served on a large earthen-ware plate and beautifully plated. It came with tandoori chicken, wings, grilled lamb, and ground and spiced lamb meatballs. The flavors were fantastic and fresh. The Kodan Kavorma (we chose the lamb option) was flavorful, full of meat, well spiced and excellent flavor.
Saffron rice (or bulghur wheat), and a salad of julienned lettuce, fresh tomato, and cucumber sprinkled with a delicious spice mix were served along the side.
PRICE: Prices were an excellent value for the amount and quality of food, the service and ambiance.
CONCLUSION; an excellent restaurant, and we’ve been a few times since and had the same excellent experience, we’ll...
Read morePLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BOOK! It is with great disappointment that I have written this review. this is our second time here. we did have a nice experience the first time. but unfortunately based on my present experience I have to write this review. we were served by a really rude, and arrogant waiter named Marija from Romania. my friend asked her how was the seabass? and her answer was "YOU ORDER, EAT AND LET ME KNOW" also when asked for an extra empty glass of wine she did not understand but instead of that she started giving me an English lesson saying "YOU MUST SAY I NEED A EXTRA EMPTY GLASS OF WINE" she was also complaining to the chef/owner that she doest want to work with one of the staff and she was rude to the table (Turkish guest) who arrived at 9:50 pm. we mentioned this to the chef/owner regarding our service and the hostile environment that the waiter has created. but the chef/owner replied that he doest have staff to work and he has to deal with this. he also said that I am an educated person and he hopes i understand. as a main chef/owner he or any manager did not do anything as a recovery but when the payment was taken they charged us 10.48 pounds extra. but on inquiring the chef said I'm sorry it happens sometimes and gave back 10 pounds in cash. my last review was a five star. but I had to delete it based on this experience. I don't recommend this to anyone anymore based on my experience. so sad and...
Read moreWe were on a road trip from leicester to newcastle back to leicester and stopped in york, being turkish we wanted to try turkish food in york. Me and my friend had a turkish stew called coban and another had incik, the incik came 20 mins after our food, our food was finished by the time his came (I am also a chef and knew that the foods that were served to us were reheated.)We had the option of rice or couscous with our meals and we chose rice (traditional turkish rice is white not yellow)!. We also ordered adana kebab (had already asked over the phone how many skewers you get over the phone and they said 2 skewers) once it arrived there was only one, we still tried it but it was like rubber and the headchef argued saying it was totally fine and that our taste buds where different, he took it away and came back two mins later saying he tried it and it was totally fine. Tried to argue with my friend regarding the adana when he was meant keep his cool however we had to stay calm which we did. Also found it weird that the head chef was taking our order when there was a waiter and waitress. The price compared to the quality of the food was appalling, we checked the menu online however it was different when we got there. Oh and we ordered kusbasi pide which is small cubes of lamb (headchef again said oh i make it my self and i cut the lamb myself) expecting small chunks of lamb we got a mince lamb.
Do not recommend...
