My daughter chose Waggamamas and specifically the York City Centre location as oppose to the York Designer restaurant to celebrate her 15th birthday. There were 6 of us. We made the trip in from Elvington. On entering we explained it was her 15th birthday and could we have a good table - the restaurant was not busy at all - we were given a table that had split benches and chairs, as you come into the main dinning hall. We weren’t given any drinks menus but were asked what we wanted to drink. Every time the front door opened for all the delivery people it send cold air (-2) down the corridor onto our table. We also had to endure being starred at by the deliver individuals through the whole meal, to the point where my young children said it was making them feel uncomfortable as did my husband who was facing them. The my mum put chilly oil on her meal and the lid came off and it opened all over her food, when she told the waitress they didn’t even ask if the food was still ok given it was drenched in oil. We also asked for the fruit smoothly to be shared in 2 glasses like we always do and they didn’t do this but brought 2 glasses for us to do it ourselves. Also sadly the main point of the trip was the children love the mini ramen, but the noodles disintegrated when eaten because they were over cooked and the chicken was tough, it was really really disappointing from start to finish and as we always come to Waggamama’s for special occasions it really let us down. My mum and husband really enjoyed their food but I couldn’t relax given all the mistakes and issues throughout the meal. Really wish we had gone somewhere else now as we never eat out and it was suppose to be a treat. You really need to sort the deliver drivers out because you can’t carry on the way you are doing it as it’s so disruptive to those that have bothered to get out and visit...
Read moreI’ve been a Wagamama fan for years and have visited many branches across the UK—from London (Greenwich, Richmond, Covent Garden, near King’s Cross, Ealing, Westfield Shepherd’s Bush, and Wembley) to Norwich, and now York. One thing I truly appreciate is that the food quality and taste remain consistently excellent across all these locations—and the York City Centre branch was no exception on that front.
The dishes were fresh, flavourful, and reliably delicious, whether it was a comforting ramen bowl or a crispy katsu curry. The brand's commitment to quality and well-executed recipes really shines through, making Wagamama a go-to wherever I travel.
That said, the only inconsistency I noticed was in the service speed and overall attentiveness. While the staff in York were friendly, the pace and polish of service didn't quite match the seamless, often quicker experience I’ve had at several London branches. It wasn’t a major issue, but it’s a noticeable difference if you’re used to the more streamlined service found in the capital.
Still, Wagamama York is absolutely worth a visit—especially if you're craving that familiar, satisfying meal in a relaxed setting. I’ll certainly be back, and I continue to appreciate the brand’s remarkable consistency in food quality across...
Read moreI always come to wagamama over the years. But I not been in a while to this branch. It’s the most flawlessly clean wagamama restaurant I ever seen. Especially the toilets. I been to other wagamama and there toilets are gross. Cause the silicone is black and the mens smell of urine. The hand drier is a pungent black inside from inadequate cleaning. Can’t say about the ladies I was on my own. But not at this wagamama looks like a showroom. Whoever cleans this place they need a bravo and a payrise. The food is 5 stars I had a katsu chicken and pork gyoza. The young blonde girl she was a delightful sweetheart. I think she was a manager she spoke with a accent it was in the evening 30/August 2023. There was a another young lad also rather tiny think he was a manager as well they were both in black they made a good team. Outstanding clean restaurant better than others wagamama I visited. I will tell my friends. Thanks I will comeback when i return for business. When I go a to restaurant I always look at...
