We had the most incredible time on our private Deathly Dark Tour in York – it was everything we had hoped for and more! From start to finish, the entire experience was seamless, engaging, and incredibly well-crafted.
What made this tour stand out was how personalized it was. We weren’t just along for the ride – it truly felt like the tour was tailored to our exact interests. We wanted a mix of history, some creepy and gory tales, and little-known tidbits that make York such a fascinating place. And that’s exactly what we got.
Dorian was a phenomenal guide – part historian, part storyteller, and part host. His ability to pace the tour according to our curiosity, energy, and mood made all the difference. He knew when to linger on a story, when to pivot to something quirky or lighter, and how to weave it all together into a rich and memorable experience.
More than just a guide, Dorian felt like a host to our time in York – someone genuinely invested in our enjoyment, exploration, and discovery of this incredible city. We felt like we had a local insider showing us around, making the experience so much deeper and more immersive than any group tour could offer.
We had an absolutely fabulous time – it was leisurely, fascinating, and so much fun! If you’re thinking about booking Deathly Dark Tours, we highly recommend it to everyone. And if you can splurge on the private tour – do it! It’s worth every penny and makes the experience that much...
Read moreMy partner and I spent the week in York to celebrate my birthday and Halloween. While in the most haunted city in the country, possibly Europe, it was a must to attend a ghost walk. York has multiple ghost tours on offer and through reading reviews, I found that The Deathly Dark Tours are the highest rated. So, of course, I chose them. Our tour was on Tuesday 29th (the night before my birthday) and we were led by Dalton Deathly. Now having done the ghost tour, I can say The Deathly Dark Tours is deserving of all its praise and sparkling reviews. Dalton was fantastic, he was macabre, comical, quick-witted and all around grimly fun. The stories shared on our journey across York were spooky and chilling, and all told in a captivating and entertaining manner. Dalton engaged with the group and rolled with all the questions and comments thrown his way, especially since our group had a few families. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed by The Deathly Dark Tour and saddened when it ended. I must make note, I was accompanied by my partner, a lactose-intolerant fellow, who, before the tour, feasted on a pizza, and missed the last two stories due to almost suffering a more grisly fate than encountering a sinister spectre, with the fury of his angry bowels. So, those lactose-intolerant, learn from my partner's poor life choices, skip the dairy, you won't want to miss anything...
Read moreDalton is a brilliantly funny, quick witted, knowledgeable guy, who has worked hard to deliver a great tour, that makes everyone feel included.
There is a reason there are so many positive reviews for the tour and last night me and my wife found out. Right from the start, Dalton was very funny and I knew I was going to have a good evening.
The walking didn't seem too far, it was mainly flat ground, areas of interest were closely linked and the stories were brief, but gave a sense of the macabre history York hides.
It's a great opportunity to see houses or parts of York that you may not venture to, like Bedern, or unknowingly walk past, like the Plague House.
I wish you every success in the future. Well done on taking something that must be hard to create an atmosphere in, and giving it your own, funny, but historically accurate take.
Lastly, thanks for the directions home :) . All the best from Alabama & Northampton (The Alabama of the...
