Never Turn Back — Restaurant in Great Yarmouth

Well... CAISTER-ON-SEA'S BEST KEPT SECRET... after living in caister-on-sea all my adult life i had given up recently finding a decent old school pub that sells real ale for men and women.. did decent edible food... Step forward THE NEVER TURN BACK! today 30/08/22 i was walking past and see open at 12. 30 sign so ventured in... A joy to behold.. Real ale.. Inc SOUTHWOLD BITTER brewed locally so i sampled a pint... HEAVEN 🤗 beautifully kept, i noticed people pouring in and all ordering food soo eventually i browsed the menu... Spoilt for choices all good ones... Eventually i went for an 8oz steak burger it came in a lovely toasted bun with lovely salad garnish and by a mile the best pub or restaurant chips i have ever eaten! Not greasy, not tasting like typical oven chips, just dam delicious!! My family has owned cafés, restaurants, nightclubs in Both London & Norfolk, so i really recognise and appreciate good food and well kept drinks, i salute the NEVER TURN BACK they are a credit to CAISTER-ON-SEA and NORFOLK. locally both in CAISTER-ON-SEA and a few miles out i had all but given up for a affordable establishment serving quality food but now i have! i regularly eat out and encourage everyone to do so before we lose all Englands beautiful pubs etc to the hideous cost of living increases. I have sadly overpaid for 5 years locally for inferior food and drink stupidly not relizing that the best quality food and best value plus ale was just a walk away a hidden local gem! Yes fair dinkum the interior carpets are abit worst for wear but the pub itself and outside.. also loo's are fantastically clean! The Landlord IAN and staff are fabulous welcoming, pleasant and cannot do enough to please. OK... YOU MAY HAVE TRIED THE REST... BUT NOW TRY THE BEST!!! Beautiful location right on the beach virtually sit outside hear the waves crashing on the shore, sand in view etc, large carpark, this is an 1960s art-decco pub a jewel in Norfolks crown, please support it or lose it as the cost of living crisis...

After speding the morning visiting the place and beach that are really beautiful, I and my friends decided to go to have lunch to this place because appeared like recommended on Internet for the area. I asked to the the man who was attending at the bar counter (guess he was the landlord) if we could order lunch; then, in a bad way he asked me to wait in a side until being attended (depite the counter was empty of people). A few minutes later he asked me what I wanted, I said we would like to have lunch but again, in a bad way he told me that everything was full. The pub had many tables empty outside and still there were some empty tables inside. I am living and working several years in England and visited many places across the UK and can say that never been treated in such as rude way before. Maybe I think they seemed only friendly with local people but not with people from other cities. Still don't know how a place with this Sir can be so good rated on the Internet. Sunday dinner at the Never Turn Back. Wow!!. The carvery here is just out of this world. £9 for a choice of 3 meats. 2 large slices of meat and as much vegatables that you can get on your plate. I went for the roast pork and paid just £1 extra to get another slice. The meat was succulent and melt in your mouth. The crackling was crispy with a great salty taste. The potatoes were crispy, the veg was perfect, not mushy, the gravy was nice and thick. Together with perfectly made stuffing and a yorkshire pudding on the side the dinner was completely fullfilling. My mum and dad told me that I would have the best carvery ever and they were not wrong. You need to make sure you book ahead to get a table at this wonderful pub in Caister.
