Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Great Yarmouth

So disappointed in this Costa, having found other branches to be fine. Visited here on Sunday late morning 11/12/22 and upon arrival, there was no-one ahead of me at the counter so hoped I would be out with 2 coffees really quickly. 2 staff on duty, 1 male and 1 female and both seemed busy preparing trays for customers who were sitting at tables. One of the trays had a toasted sandwich on it. After a few minutes the male staff member took my order and payment and went to the coffee machine. He seemed very unsure and kept checking tickets then going back to the machine. He then started to prepare drinks and I realised that they were not mine so then understood that they were backed up. It became evident that along with preparing trays for customers at the tables, the lady was also preparing an Uber/Just Eat collection. Other customers arrived and placed orders and I still waited. After 15 minutes (with no explanation of the delay or apology) a customer who came in after me was given her drinks before me!! The tray containing the toasted sandwich which was there when I arrived was STILL on the counter - drinks were finally added to this tray and it was delivered to the table - must have been lukewarm at best. Finally, after around 20 minutes, my drinks were given to me with a mumbled 'Sorry about the wait, mate'. Clearly the 2 staff members were struggling and were maybe new to it but some basic customer service skills would have gone a long way to aleviate the frustration I (and others by then) was feeling. Plenty of other cafes and coffee shops in Gorleston so will not return...

When entering the shop there's a very strong smell of mould and damp , The tables and floor were filthy, On On ordering drinks everybody at the counter were able to see how dirty and descusting the work areas were, Also one our drinks was a hot chocolate and this was made in a jug which was caked in the remnants of what ever had been in it before. We use Costa Next in great Yarmouth at least 4 times a week with nothing other than excellent service. Sort it weren't the only ones complaining.

Most concerned...

Staff were not exactly friendly and made excuses about my cup being returned as it was dirty. They then removed afew more cups before another lady gave me a clean one. They don't sell toast here so I had a cornflake cake, it's was very soft, strange thing. Maybe they're made different there who knows. It wasn't super clean but it was ok, the toilets however have a very strong smell which just isn't nice.
