Istanbul Kitchen — Restaurant in Harborough

We placed an order on a Friday evening at about 6.50 and was given a delivery time of “by 7.50”. At 8.20 my husband called to be told our food was ready and sat there waiting for the driver. At 8.40 I called and was told our food had literally just been taken and was out for delivery. My husband called again at 9.10 and was told it’s still out for delivery! Food finally arrived at 9.30 (after calling to cancel and ask for a refund) so we had to turn it away as we had sorted an alternative. We loved this place and have eaten in and had takeaways many many times and it's always been fantastic. I do not like to complain and it takes a lot for me to do so however, this was completely unacceptable. I can understand if somewhere is really busy but just say so - do not lie. Plus we do not want food that was supposedly ready and waiting from 8.20 (if that was indeed even the case)! Went in a day later to ask for confirmation that I would be getting the refund I was promised over the phone as they had not and have still not replied to my emails, and they were rather rude. I have now had my refund so that's one saving grace. No apologies or anything so unfortunately we shall not be returning out...

Since moving to the area 2 years ago this was my go to place as the food was always good. The last order I placed, I asked for extra salad instead of rice (online order); I even called up to make sure they received the note & was told they had received the order/note & it would be no problem. Over an hour later my food arrives with rice & hardly any salad! When I called the restaurant I was rudely (and unapologetically) told they were busy without any offer to rectify - hence my last order! I had no intention to leave a bad review based on one bad experience however, I am now constantly receiving marketing texts from this company despite NOT authorising any marketing to my phone. I delete/block/report as spam & can only assume they then send marketing from another number as it has not stopped! Every 3/4 days I get a marketing text from this business! So a word of warning - do not give this business your mobile number unless you’re happy to be bombarded with...

Placed order for the family, given a pick up time, arrived on time, then waited for 20mins to then as they handed the food to me that one of the meals wasn’t in there!!!! So I asked for them to just put some of the cooking chicken on the BBQ to make sure my daughter had some food to be told ‘No that’s for the orders we have coming in showing me the till orders’ I couldn’t believe the lady who served me didn’t want to put the order right, so I had to leave the order as I wasn’t returning home with only three quarters of the meals. I was told my order would be refunded which it hasn’t yet. The worst thing is in May we had a similar experience there with one dish ordered being fish. Went to pick it up & gave me the bag ‘sorry no fish you want chicken instead’ I said no as they don’t like chicken and again they got shirty with me for asking for a refund on the fish & and an incomplete order.
