Market Harborough Library (with Family Hub support) — Attraction in Harborough

The refurbishment of the library has turned it into an oasis of learning and reading. The surroundings now reflect the care, attention and intelligence of the staff in ordering, rotating and processing requests. The range of books for a small library is excellent, and you can really see an intelligent relationship between the books being used and read and the new rotations coming through. The selection for children is varied and challenging - with a great selection for older and teen readers (often sadly missing). The interactive floor is a gift too. Superb modern library in a delightful historical building. What this library demonstrates more than anything is that in a recession you can have "more for less". Why? They have incorporated the museum and library in one place, saving the museum, and moved it up a floor to make the best use of the enormous Symingtons building, allowing the Council to get some income from the ground floor retail units. I believe this is one of Market Harborough's well loved and treasured learning and resource centre. The selection of books is very well thought out and the layout and ambience- alongside the Harborough museum is a must visit for all ages. A calming place-with it's peace and quiet respected by all,on everyone of my visits so far....if you haven't been for some time or are thinking of going....it will be time...
