Harborough, as we all know, has A LOT of cafes and coffee spots. It's always my preference to support the small independent establishments, and fortunately, we've spoilt for choice in that department.
This was my first visit to the cafe at Welland Park, which is something of a hidden gem! Unless you're a regular visitor to the park, you might not know about this lovely little cafe. But after seeing a post on Instagram, I thought it was time for a visit.
It was quite busy when I arrived, and it was a bit of a chilly day, so I was glad to get a table inside. I ordered a coffee, which was really good. But it was the main dish - a potato rosti with bacon, poached egg and tomato relish - that got top marks from me. It was one of the tastiest things I've eaten at a cafe in ages.
I hope this new dish stays on the menu, because it will definitely entice...

Five staff & not one of them noticed me in front of the counter waiting to be served for 20mins. It was like they all didn't know what they was doing. Two customers in front of me was served then when it came to me. A staff member went and cleaned the table right next to me, the girl on the till walked off & looked at me from the kitchen, the guy on the coffee machine kept looking away from me, the lady in the kitchen was just shouting stuff out to her other colleagues and another staff member just walking around not doing anything. But you cannot sit inside with a dog and you have to have your dog on its lead whilst ordering. Best bacon and brie in the Midland's! All the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcomed.
