Read moreI came for a birthday meal, the staff were welcoming, I ordered a pinacolada to which we were talked in to having two for the deal of £14.95 which was fine, however I’ve had many pinacoladas and this one in particular was all coconut cream and very sickly. I only managed to finish one of them, there was no taste of pineapple or rum in them either so just a very expensive coconut drink if you ask me. Then there was the food, I ordered a chicken burrito, again I’ve had many burritos and this was packed with watery, flavourless chicken, no rice or beans or anything else for that matter which you would typically find in a burrito. Needless to say it’s was quite unpleasant and I didn’t eat it, the owner did come over and ask what was wrong with it so I was honest and said what I didn’t like, he offered for his chef to make me a fajita to take home, I wasn’t all that bothered but accepted his kind offer. However this was also not great, while it had more flavour this time round it also had elements you wouldn’t typically find i.e radish and cucumber and again was very watery. We came with a two year old which the staff were advised at the time of booking and on arrival found there was no highchairs or children’s menu. I also used the toilet part way though the meal to find it very unclean, the dirt on the windowsill alone looked like it had never been cleaned, the place ended up giving me the ick and I couldn’t wait to leave. On a whole it was very a disappointing experience and somewhere we won’t be...
Read moreThis place gets lots of good reviews, so I had high expectations. Our waitress was friendly and helpful, but the food was disappointing. Their website claims they serve “the freshest Mexican food to you by using the highest quality ingredients … for the real taste of Mexico” but our food didn’t seem to be fresh or high quality.
The tortilla garlic bread was good and the nachos were fine (hard to get those wrong!) but the pieces of calamari were tiny and quite dark, like they’d been fried for too long. It also came served with a sweet chilli sauce instead of a chipotle mayonnaise.
They don’t have a kids menu, but our waitress explained they did small build-your-own chicken wraps which were popular with other kids. Unfortunately, the chargrilled chicken tasted more burnt than chargrilled and was mostly dried out. Thankfully, the portion size was big enough that we managed to salvage enough chicken for the kids to eat.
The adult mains were a bit better. The large steak for my fajitas was heavily seasoned (almost like a peppered steak) and cooked well, but the guacamole and salsa tasted like it came from a jar rather than being freshly made. The Mexican rice was overcooked and stodgy. The “refried” beans were tasteless and seemed to have come straight out of a tin.
I’ve unfortunately had better Mexican-style food at pub chains, so we probably won’t...
